  • Hi Kittenkirst :) we tend to try and book him an Air BnB place so he can have access to kitchen facilities to re-heat the meals. On this week's menu is Sri Lankan chicken curry; chilli; spag bol and pulled pork. Is there any way your GF can stay in self-catering places to keep costs down?

SJ - You are quite right, monthly goals sound perfectly sensible. Ok... here goes... what was the end of year goal is now the end of October goal - I will be in the 30s by 2nd November (2nd because mortgage payment is made on 1st, gives it time to level itself off).

Phew, I've said it. Off for a brew and a lie down :rotfl:x

  • ATB, you're sounding super organised lately! :)

Do you still do airbnb? Or have you stopped since you've moved? I remember it was quite money earner for you.
    Mortgage - £105,500
  • Hey Lou :) it was a great earner for us, but no, we don't do it in the new house. I would heartily recommend it though, it's just not for us at this time - DH works away so much, I wouldn't feel comfortable just me and the kiddies here with guests.

Lazy afternoon planned now, I am pooped x

Good luck with your next sprint! I like the idea of the zeros at the end of the mortgage!

  • Online banking is still a day behind so I can't yet see how far away from the 30s we are. Hopefully it will catch up tomorrow and I will have an idea of just how much we need to throw at it this month.

I have done lots of admin and chores this morning, having been up since 5am with DH. Aiming for a couple of no-spend days now, we have plenty in stocks to enable us to eat from the fridge and freezer so no top-up shops should be necessary :)

    Have lovely evenings all xx

Ah, our work has specified hotels to stay in so she has her evening meal
Provided but not lunches and breakfast (she misses brekkie as is a committed gym bunny!) will try a little experimenting with pack ups that will last for a few days :

Thanks for the ideas though! Sri Lankan curry sounds ace!

  • Hi all :)

Apologies for being a bit AWOL. It has been a rubbish couple of days here - we were subjected to an attempted burglary on Monday evening whilst I was upstairs bathing the children. I scared them away thankfully, but as DH was away I was utterly terrified. Next door neighbours were fabulous, as were the police. No-one caught (surprise surprise) but we now have super upgraded locks on all of the doors. They haven't come cheap but I feel safer now. Alarm chap is coming today as well to sort that out.

Ahem. Onto more pleasing news. To be in the 30s by 2nd November we need to OP £800 this month. Eminently do-able with some careful planning, low grocery spends and attention to detail. In the spirit of every little helps, I have just Opd £2 :rotfl:

    Take care, ATB x

Glad nothing happened with the burglary - hope the locks/alarms work both as a deterrent and helping you feel secure. My house was robbed years ago and it took me a while to feel comfortable again.
