Getting mobile phone repaired under warranty - whats the law?

To clarify, the end of the charging socket had melted which then damaged the phone.
It's quite often the other way around.
If the socket on the phone had been damaged by incorrectly pushing the plug in or pulling it out at an angle, the plug on the charger may not then make a good contact which could cause it to get hot, thus melting the area around the phone socket as well as the plug on the charger.
Without a proper examination of the phone and charger, it would be hard, if not impossible to say exactly why the melting occurred.
This may well be the reasoning of the manufacturer and if you are going to attempt to enforce your statutory rights against the manufacturer, you need to inform them of this and make sure that they know they are required to prove that the defect was because of misuse.0 -
