I fancy taking my wife away for the weekend for her 70th birthday to somewhere in the south of Scotland/north of England/Lake District area.
Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
I was looking at Warner Leisure Hotels because they have entertainment etc. and cater for our age group but they are all to far away from my home so I was wondering if anyone knew of a similar type of hotels in the above areas?
Her birthday is in May.

No personal experience of staying there, but I believe the Royal Hotel at Whitby has evening entertainment, and Shearings do weekend breaks - either by coach or self drive.

Shearings may have other such hotels on their books, so worth checking out their website.0 -

I read that - buty my point is that Whitby IS in the North of England (it's as far north as the Lake District), but you are saying that it is too far to travel. So what do you mean by the North of England' - are you actually just interested in the North West / Cumbria rather than the North East ?0 -
(it's as far north as the Lake District)
But not from where I live in Scotland.
4:30 hrs or more driving to Whitby down the A1 and A19, less than 3 hours driving to the Lake District, motorway all the way.
Even Blackpool is only 4 hours away.over 73 but not over the hill.0 -
