A new diary as we enter the last two months of 2011. I have been lurking for almost a year and have found so many of you inspirational, particularly Billy, Michelle, Radish, and Museum Worker.

A bit of background I am married to a great man, two kids who are growing up too quickly, two cats and a dog! Never a dull moment in our household as you can imagine.

I had my LB moment 12 months ago and started to work on my husband to bring him round as I thought we both needed to be on board to tackle this project. I have just asked him when he had his LB moment and he said 'when you told me I had' however he swiftly followed this up with 'when I realised we would never reduce the mortgage whilst battling with 'the large Spanish bank'!

To set the stage for where we are and where we are aiming for:
Current mortgage £312000 and I wince as I type the number, with the outstanding mortgage due to finish in 10 years. Aim is to clear the mortgage in 6 years. We are fortunate that we are both employed on good salaries however in this day and age who knows how long that will last.
Onwards and upwards, my next post will be to build a picture of how I/we have put into practice all the things learnt from you great people.

Thanks for reading and I hope some day I can inspire others the way some of you have inspired me/us.

Lovely swim in the sea and salmon, tomatoes and French bread for lunch. I've had a sort out of garden brollies and we need to buy 2. We use them on the beach and garden. As we have people using the house until late October, I need to be better prepared.

Ironing still being ignored but at least one top needs to be done otherwise I won't be going out for dinner.

Off on a boat trip tomorrow morning. It visits a few caves and gives you time to have a swim in the sea. Good fun. Out for lunch then to Dutch chums for a BBQ. I know that's going to be a long night and I've offered to drive.

Some of the conversations about the referendum have been difficult. I voted Remain and can't come up with any explanation for our mainland Europe chums. It does sound as though all of them think Brussels is too powerful and that countries should rally to get major reform. Easier said than done but it's definitely the way forward. Having a PM with the skills to build bridges with these countries, enabling the UK to be an enabler of change would have been perfect.

Anyway, it's blinking hot and a nap before socialising is required.

Morning - haircut booked €15 - for this morning. Tried a delicious blend of rice in a salad last night and am going to hunt it down this morning.

Off to the beach late afternoon and I'm preparing everything for a pasta dish for dinner, this morning. Want to be ahead otherwise we may be tempted to eat out.

Feeling very sad as we are off in the next day or so. It is more upsetting each time I have to leave nowadays. I truly appreciate how fortunate we are but I'd love our new life to start now.

Right off to put towels in to wash.

    Best wishes

Different phase of holiday now and Mr T is making good use of his free hotel nights. We have seen some fantastic sights and last night ate in an American diner with music choice (can't think what it's called) at each table. Truly brilliant and as we ate late and Sunday is a quiet night we were able to sing along with the songs

Clothes washed in the bath last night and now dry.

Heading down for breakfast shortly then a free pedicure for DD and me

Kids are learning more about using money wisely and I've enjoyed listening to them. DD is investigating a Trust for her and her brother. Any property purchased would be owned by the Trust. We had toyed with that years ago but at 20 DD is already starting to see the damage relationships can do, when ending badly.

    Right need to cracking on.
