Funny you mentioned Xmas hosting, we have the opportunity this year to do what we like as family feel obliged to do well you know the other family.

In the meantime we've been offered to go down to "the middle of no where" campsite to help with the animals and stay for free in our glamping set up (which tbh is very comfy) with free electrict hook up or take up accommodation in the yurt, round house or other eccentric lodges on offer there.

Very tempted. I'm not one for all that commercialism and it would be quite a wee adventure. Apparently the turkey is moody!

I mean the real turkey not one for eating lol!
  • So managed to remove old fireplace and this week had the chimney relined and woodburner fitted, poured with rain here last night so had it lit, still warm in lounge this morning!
Located all the fleece blankets, and laundered them.
Realised boys have grown taller and will def need new fleece onesies..... Will look in primarni next time I can face town. Talking if primarni bought some of their woolly U*g type boots, not to wear outside, but as servicible slippers, pairs for me and boys as they come in manly colours! All of us slipper booted up for £15 total! :T
Now need to save up for a new digital sensor for boiler which I had forgotten had stopped working last winter,so can't programme anything for when it gets cold( boiler works, but only with manual buttons)
Hey ho prep continues! Now if we can have the leaves starting to turn I'd be happy, roll on Autumn proper!
  • Youngest child grew too tall for her fleecy Onesy. She cut the feet off and now wears it with thick socks. Must have inherited the frugal gene! Ha ha. M2m.
    Frugal Living Challenge 2023.

The shed, garage and bench have all had two or three coats of paint. I'm planning on doing lots of cutting back and tidying away at half term. Front porch and the back door have been resealed.
DS needs a new winter coat and some other bits so a shopping trip is planned, it's going to be a busy half term.
I have written out a list of items we are running low off, I'm going to make sure supplies are topped up, especially heavy or bulky items like washing powder and tinned stuff. Our drive is very steep and it's not always possible to get the car out when it's snowy or icy.
I love the changing seasons, I'm another one who loves an Autumn clean.

A*da also have some nice brushed cotton fitted sheets etc. and the prices are good. I think it was around £8.50 for a fitted bottom sheet. They have a full range of them in different colours and sizes. They're not the thickest quality but perfectly serviceable and so snuggly on the bed.
:hello:  please play nicely children !

We are still using the summer weight duvet but will probably change to the heavier one next week. Yesterday we had our flu jabs-my arm is very sore and I kept waking up in the night whenever I turned over.

Last week we were on holiday in Devon and I bought myself a pair of sheepskin slippers and some sheepskin insoles for my boots-my feet always get cold in the winter. I hate winter.

It's chilly here tonight - not cold just noticeably not mild! I think I'm all on tract with everything that needs to be done for prep - maybe could use a few more of things but seem to be getting there. I'm trying not to buy too much as have done that in the past and it wasn't necessary. I am looking forward to darker nights and cosy nights in but hate the freezing and dark mornings doing the school run! Porridge and soup weather is coming!

I do love porridge and soup :)
I hope this year's flu jab isn't going to cause problems.
  • I've just put my 2.5 tog quilt into the quilt cover as it's cooler now, all summer it's just been the quilt cover and sometimes a light throw.
