  • morning early birds ! I was awake too but refusing to get out of bed as it was too cold. I have to go back today for another (3rd) GTT test so nothing but water for me until lunchtime :( I had a checkup yesterday at the hospital and the midwife decided I was measuring a little big so sent me for a scan where they decided I had too much amniotic fluid. This could be a sign of Gestational diabetes hence the test this morning or it could be nothing or it could be a sign of something else not so good (must stay off google). This time I'm actually hoping for diabetes as at least I'll know where I am then and what to do.

I hope everyone else who is going for checks today is OK, fingers crossed all round.
  • Haha it is princess Kate! Though my 7 year old has always kept me on my toes in the sleep department. Someone once told me once you have kids you never ever sleep properly again and she was right!

Ive been through the exact same thing. I grew 6 weeks worth in 2 weeks. Scans showed a VERY large amount of fluid. don't worry too much about it though. My GTT came back negative, I've had scans every 2 weeks ever since and it has slowly been going down to within acceptable limits (though still high end of acceptable). They say it usually just sorts itself out and isn't a sign of anything. I did the Google thing also but decided that most cases its "just one of those things" and as there was nothing I could do about it, to not worry and be optimistic!

    Im sure baby is fine!

  • Thanks ladies :D, just back from the hospital and they should call with the results tomorrow (Saturday ???! can't see that happening) or Monday so I guess I'll have to wait and see over the weekend. I think the GTT is going to come back negative as my last was only 4 weeks ago and was towards the lower end of the acceptable range so it's unlikely to have shot up in that short a time.

No more googling for me and like Millysg1 I think I'm going to just have to sit this one out and see what the next scan says. 4 weeks till then though. I'd prefer it to be in two weeks which they initially seemed to say then to change their minds about.

Hope everyone else is OK - have a good weekend all !
  • Saw the midwife earlier & my bp had come down to snore acceptable 140/88. Very pleased!

Think I need to realise now I've finished work, not just got a few days off & so I don't have to try to do everything in a day! Hard to get used to tho!

I can completely understand! Yesterday was my first day off and despite having no sleep I made soup, cleaned the oven, hoovered, washed up, did the washing, cleaned the bathroom....

Today I took madam to school came home and was in the bath from 9-11! I listened to my hypnobirthing, I read rubbish on t'internet and just relaxed. When I got out, I did do two loads of washing, washed up, made the bed, made hubbys lunch and packed DD's bag ready for her Dads, but that was a leisurely day rather than yesterday.

I was worrying about being off, filling in my time and not getting down due to lack of socialising, however I actually am enjoying it {so far!} x

  • It's hard to do the right thing with baby clothes. I took 0-3 only in with me, I hadn't been warned I was having a large baby (9lbs) but I was past due date and had a feeling that baby might be big. Not sure what to do this time around.

Must start thinking about bag and other things in a couple of weeks. 30 weeks today. 8 weeks left at work! Woo hoo!

Mil was telling me how hard it was coping with 2, my dh and his brother were only 9 months apart because his brother was born prem. she said how hard it was feeding(formula) a prem every 2 and a half hours. I have no illusion that it will be difficult, I specfically waited for a reasonable gap (2 years 9 months) between babies. I also reminded mil that I fed niall every 1-2 hours in the early days/weeks because of breastfeeding, don't think she was listening.
