Quite a week really, good and bad. I received a bill yesterday from HMRC for £717 for self employed national insurance contributions, I have KNOW idea why  hopefully my accountant can help out here, at least I have until July to pay it if I really owe it.

I only remembered Thursday was Aldi voucher day in the evening, and all the papers had sold out by then, so missed the bloomin thing again.

Pay day has finally arrived, and I've been able to pay off a large chunk of the remaining debt, bringing it down to 3 figures, just £727 to go. I am a little miffed, that my milage claim wasn't paid this month, apparently they didn't receive it :mad::mad: other wise it would have been another £400.

I don't want to count my chickens and tempt fate, but it's looking entirely possible that this time next month I will be sitting here completely debt free.

I have sacked the cleaner, I've decided that the quick once over she does, I really can do myself if I get my finger out, and save my self £20. It was good to have when I needed a lift, but I feel much more on top of things now.

I need to start making some plans for when I am debt free, I need to build up some savings, pay in to my pension and get the mortgage paid. Before that I want to get moved back into my house and it needs some work doing to it. New kitchen, bathroom, living room carpet and a little landscaping out side.

Exciting on the debt news :j:j but grr to the mileage expenses  and the HMRC bill . Hope the Accountant solves that one and it turns out to be in error. :)

A good extra boost to savings not having the cleaner. I'm going through a stage of thinking I need one. My answer for now is not having visitors and the 'lived in look' :rotfl:

Definitely worthwhile checking pension release and further payments in and tax implications. :)

When debt free, I think it looks like one door closing and another opening to moving forward. Plans sound good and fingers crossed next month is the start of it. :D Think I'll be in May - maybe April if I put my birthday money (next month) towards debt and we don't spend much on holiday :) Or maybe I should just pay it off from the emergency fund and be free on my birthday :D

    Have a great weekend :)

Use your emergency fund Ali, and give your self the best birthday pressie of debt freedom!

Re the cleaner, I was thinking that if it ever really got on top of me again, I could pay for a one off blitz. Having a cleaner does seem an extravagance to me, but it helped when I needed it it. But then MIT manages a full time job and every-one elses cleaning as well as her own :rotfl:

I feel the need for a list this weekend

    • [STRIKE]Blitz bathroom[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Blitz kitchen[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Blitz lounge[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Blitz hall[/STRIKE]
    • Blitz car port
    • [STRIKE]Wash car[/STRIKE]
    • Stock take freezer
    • [STRIKE]Meal plan[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Shop[/STRIKE]
    • Move piano to other house
    • Install desk from car port to ex piano spot and arrange mini office instead of running my pt business from my bed :rotfl:
    • [STRIKE]See shades of grey with DD[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Empty washing basket[/STRIKE]
Better get my bum out of bed then, have a productive weekend frugalites x

Lol, well I can't say I completely blitzed every room, but they certainly looked a lot tidier, not that it lasted, I mean how much mess can 1 teenage boy make.....

I contacted payrole about my milage, I will have to wait for it in my pay at the end of this month, a bit annoying, but more of an inconvenience, with this months milage too, I reckon the claim will be enough to completely clear the debt in its self.

I read that the council are looking for polling staff for voting day, so I might apply for that, I think it's well paid and I will be due a lieu day as I will be work traveling this weekend.

Have been speaking to ExDH re moving out of my house, he's just applied for voluntary redundancy so we're going to wait and see if he gets that first. I've said I want to be in back in for the summer

Not a great deal else to report, £727 to go £727 to go...24 days and counting....lala tralalala..:j:j:j

Do you know I feel exactly the same. I could if I wanted take £727 out of my business (legit) and pay off that debt today, just like you with your savings. But I haven't, I was sat here today trying to figure out why. I've had debt for so long it's a bit like part of the family. I'm sure there maybe some psychologist out there that could explain this!!

Hey don't feel blue Brogden, your day will come, and this is such an amazing place for the journey.
I think we make our own luck. If I hadn't found this forum, and it wasn't luck I found it, I was searching for answers, then I may never have had my LBM. I may still be racking up the debt and pretending it was all ok.

Now yesterday the postie brought me a very nice letter indeed, from the tax man no less, and that doesn't happen very often.
The letter tells me that my tax code is changing from L293 to L1109, which I think means I can earn £8160 more before I pay tax, although I'm still struggling to figure out how much extra that is in my monthly pay :o

This week I'm in foreign climes, although it has to be said it is only marginally warmer than the UK. I needed a decent work trip in a nice hotel, I'm running short of shampoo and shower gel :rotfl:

Actually the timing of the trip wasn't great. DD has split up with BF, hopefully permanently, but she was very upset, and I feel bad leaving her when she needs a soggy shoulder to cry on, bless.

No much else to report, went out on Friday night and spend to much on alcohol, but away all week so that should make up for it :)

When people let me down and disappoint me, I shall not become a victim dwelling in negative emotions.

Self pity is a worthless act, I am strong, other peoples actions are no reflection on me as a person, and I will not waste my time and energy further.

I will not wait for the storm to pass, I learn to dance in the rain.

And here endeth today's entry :D
