Hi all,
Taking apart decking from my garden and there are the attached screw/joint in photo. What tool do i need to undo these? It's fixing the wood together. Sorry for being a novice,

You need two tools, the top one will require a box spanner or a socket set and the bottom one is a straight forward philips head or pozidrive.
Ha! You just beat me Glasgowdan. Good picture and exactly what he needs.0 -
Right I've found these, although I don't know what size I need.
Would these be suitable?

There are others with 5 bits but I'm not sure about size required?
I'd like to pick some up in the morning. I could also try wikes of 'What' store0 -

Those are hex bits and aren't suitable.0 -

How come? I was thinking the hex bit fits in the drill with the other side latching onto the socket? Aren't these the same as the link another person posted above?0 -
The hex bits are for Allen screws.0

Ok, back to square one. Can anyone help please0

If you're binning the deck why not just cut it with a saw?0

OP, measure the distance across opposite flats on the visible bolt head and that is the size of socket or box spanner you need.0 -
Maybe a basic question, but you DO have a drill, right?
Get a tape measure and roughly try and measure the width of the hex bolt head. Then get a couple of hex driver bits around that size.
BUT, you may find them very stiff, rusted or simply jammed. If the deck is being binned, I'd just saw the b***ard up, smash with a sledgehammer and pick axe.0
