Motorists, what to do about cyclists who constantly break the high way code???

If the lights were on red then the cyclist would be committing an offence, pedestrians or not, and his view of the crossing would presumably be restricted by my car. The law allows the use of a horn while stationary "at times of danger due to another moving vehicle on or near the road".
In the case described I wouldn't beep - I don't think it would achieve anything. If there were pedestrians, then I might do so... to alert the pedestrians that there was an overtaking cyclist and the cyclist that they were potentially endangering other road users (and breaking Highway Code Rule 191).Wash your Knobs and Knockers... How about if you were waiting at a pedestrian crossing in your car and a cyclist went through on red well after any pedestrians had safely finished crossing? Would you beep or shout at them?
Riding to work last week I was waiting at a pedestrian crossing on red. The red man light came on, the traffic lights went green, I set off and a bloke STARTED to cross the road from the other side0 -
Doesn't the Highway Code say the horn should not be used as a rebuke? Which is a very grey area since the sound doesn't adequately distinguish between "Hey - there's a vehicle here that I don't think you noticed!" and "Hey! I think you're being a !!!!!"

Corsa driver just steamed through with pedestrians coming from either side of the zebra crossing!
Sounded my horn to warn the pedestrians.One woman shouted at me, but to be fair I think it was adrenaline from the Corsa nearly running her over and assuming a car driver was (as seems the norm) forcing their way through.
On a side note,the driving around this shopping centre is often atrocious,combined with very poor design.0 -

The rear wheels of a vehicle always cut the corner, so the need to swing out depends on the relationship between the radius of the bend and the turning circle of the vehicle. I think this gets distorted by some cycling advocates who insist on only counting actual injuries and there are no figures for "near misses".
You need to be careful with road injury stats, the number of injuries recorded is not as reliable as the number of deaths because the definition of an injury is more subjective and the expertise and number of people available for filling in paperwork varies. Similarly, the number of near misses will be less reliable still. Death is clearly defined, and as dead bodies don’t generally get left at the roadside the number recorded isn’t dependent on staffing levels. Death stats show random fluctuations, but injury stats correlate with the number of police available for form filling.0 -

Which it doesn't necessarily have to, since there is virtually zero likelihood of anyone ever being prosecuted for using lights not meeting that standard. It also doesn't need to if it meets another appropriate European standard.
Ultimately, face with "lit by nothing or lit by unapproved light", I know which I'd prefer cyclists to do. Something's better than nothing, and I couldn't give two hoots if it meets a British Standard.0 -
