    Hi,

Can you still claim off a bank if you are not longer with them? The reason why i left them in the first place was because of the bank charges.

    Regards
  • Hi, I am trying to claim my bank charges from Natwest on a closed Business account. It has been 5 weeks since writing the standard letters to them and i have heard nothing. I rang them up yesterday to ask what was happening. They told me that they sent a letter to me about 2 weeks ago which i have not received. I asked them to which address had they sent it to and they told me to the account address which was my old business address. I had a clothes shop you see and the account was resgistered there. The shop has been closed for 3 years and is now owned by someone who does not speak very good english and he is getting my mail.I told Natwest this and asked them to send all letters to my home address...they said NO. SO now all of my mail regarding the money that they owe me which is £2,000. Is going to someone else. Any advice anyone...as i have contact the shop and asked if they could let me know if they receive any mail to let me know, but im not holding my breath as its been 3 yrs since we left and it seems a bit weird to be asking for my mail now...
  • I banked with Natwest for about four years from 1999 and became unemployed. A debit of about £30 grew and grew as they slapped interest on it. I can't remember the bank account number. Is it possible for me to try and reclaim the money they took given that I can't remember how much or am I just hopeless? I moved bank when I got work as I was fed up with complaining about them hitting a man when he was down and getting no reply!

I recently closed my bank account with HSBC as I had become overdrawn and they kept charging me fees on top of their fees - it came to about £300 over 2 or 3 days! Then they asked me to hand over my cards after i had paid them the excess amount back. Can I put in a claim even though the account is closed? I am guessing not, but it is worth asking

A number of things could be done really. One is ring their customer services number (08456 012288) and act daft and see if they can locate the old acct details. However if the acct was closed more than 2 years ago, the likliehood is, they wont be able to retreive this on their systems. In which case, you could try this website, http://www.bba.org.uk/bba/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=144
They can locate details of old accounts by you giving them the details you can remember. They may be able to locate the details, send them to you and then you can start sending letters etc. The last thing you could try is sending the first template letter anyway, and just putting in the letter the details which you do know, ie, address at the time, your name, date of birth etc. As much as you have to see if they can locate the info.
Hope one of these helps. :D
