  • Did British Gas try to charge you 130 quid like they did me and the ex just to take the old boiler away? I think they are the biggest rip off merchants going. Me and the ex got quoted I think it was 2900 for a boiler by Worcester the same boiler we got fitted via a friend in the end who worked for homeserve GB for 2100.

I know you have probably got the boiler on finance if you can switch energy provider I would look at what your paying per unit of energy with your supplier. Iresa will be lower.

  • Thanks Scott - we didn't go to BG for the boiler. The guy who came to do the annual service said don't go to the biggies go to Trust A Trader which we did and got a lovely company. It is a Worcester we paid £3500 all in with no extra costs. They were hard workers and clean and tidy. I would certainly do the trust a trader for anything else and not be ripped off.

I will look into Iresa though for the supply.

  • Aching today after clearing out the unit.

To do list is still too long for my liking:
    Bake a cake with DD
    Clean and de-clutter our bedroom
Put more stuff on FB or eBay to sell
Get filing cabinet ready for chap to pick up
    Loads of washing
    Walk doggos

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday xx

Right that's better - I think I added the debts on twice.

Any help would be gratefully received if you read my initial post though you will see what is happening at the moment.

Will your daughters surrender the cars when they go to university? If they're living on campus, there won't be a need for them and walking/cycling/taking a bus is free/cheap so a better option. You can sell them and then it's another payment gone.

    Ditto with mobile phone contracts.

If they take over responsibility for this, it will help their own financial education and skill set too.

    What do you think?

  • Hi Shoes

    Thanks for your reply.

We've been thinking about the cars and we're not sure what to do. Realistically I don't think we can get rid of one as her Uni is only 50 mins away and her boyfriend lives away so they will meet half way at weekends. The other one is an option but she will want it when she comes home. I'm wondering if we can sorn it while she is away or if it is a more permanent thing.

Mobile phones are the bane of my life. I stupidly renewed their contracts in December so have to wait another 16 months until we are out of it unless anyone knows of another way?

I have had words and basically they need to find jobs in their respective towns and pay their mobile bills and money towards the insurance on their cars and food. There is no other option and they know it.
