Hi sistercass
How old is DD1? if she is young enough -could you come up with a new game tell her mum is getting the shopping and will pick up some "special" items -then when you get home you can give her the items and the 2 of you do her very own ready steady cook -either by making up recipes as you go along (nudge nudge wink wink) or you can sit down together and go through your cook books and look for dishes that use those ingredients....not that you will have a recipe in mind of course:whistle:-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
sistercas - how old is DD1? Could you perhaps have a 'budget' for the shop slightly above what you expect to spend, and then anything left (after she helps get everything on the list and check for better bargains) she can have towards something she wants? I used to find my children would do a lot more for 'free' cash (even if it wasn't a lot) than they'd do for free - and it should work out cheaper than doubling your expected bill :rolleyes2Cheryl0

Went to town today and wandered round - looking for a swimming costume but no-one wants to sell me one - but in the end spent a grand total of £4.08 in M&S. As I had £3 in coupons I have added £1.08 to the total. I only have until Monday night so it looks as though I may even come in a bit under this month.
MrsM please put me down for £150 again in August.
I will declare on Monday night for July.0 -
I'm going for £100 for August.April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

Yesterdays spends:
Bought toiletries - toothbrush heads, shower gel etc, but these were bought with vouchers as I pay for some Boots vouchers our of my salary each month, so no "real" spend there :j
Bread, mince, carrots, onions, potatos, milk and (reduced) free range eggs meant a spend of £7.62 though.
I'm being very restrained until my Costco trip :rotfl: Today I plan to do an online Tesco/Asda shop for storecupboard goodies, but even that might end up getting shelved as I am now so into my MSE ways that the delivery charge annoys me :rotfl:0 -
MrsMC so pleased to hear good news about Mum.
Declaring £179 out of £180 for July GC
please put me down for £180 again for August
Had a good month GC but had loads of b'days and other extras,so am going to be much better for August-not so many socials.
These aren't in a budget but perhaps they need to be ,still managed to save some tho'.

OK, totally failed this month. Am declaring £379.23 so £79.23 over budget :eek::eek:. I knew I had let things slip a bit, perhaps £300 every month was a bit ambitious, so will set a new target for August of £354. This is calculated on £80/week.
So, Mrs M, could you please put me down for £354 for August and I will try harder!
Thanks, kjGC April 93.92/5000 -
MRSMC - I'm declaring £291.55 for July. I know I'm over again but this was made worse by the 3 day loss of Electricity in the Dartford area:eek: as I had to buy Bread & Rolls that I would normally make myself and had to replace Milk etc that wasn't planned.
EDF have now fully restored the whole area so I can confidently fill my Fridge tomorrow from August GC.;)
MRSMC - please put me down for £300 for August. I have increased it for this month because with the School Hols I know the kids will eat more and I will be doing more baking etc for Picnics etc.
Have a good day everyone and I'll see you all over on the August GC.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.
