Cheap, but nice house warming gift?

Hi Guys!

My cousin and her husband are just about to complete on their first house. She is expecting a house warming gift, and would expect it to be expensive  .

I don't have much spare cash and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for cheap, but nice presents. They currently live together and have recently got married so have a lot of stuff.

Part of me isn't happy about giving her anything as she expects it and has already been asking people what they are going to give her  , but I know it will be wrong it I don't and to be honest I like an easy life!! :o

All ideas will be welcome.

Thanks in advance x

Know what you mean .... I would feel the same!!! Actually my MIL is like that every birthday and xmas.

Don't know what to suggest other than have a look in TX Maxx or somewhere like that in their homewares dept. Got a nice crystal vase in there once for a tenner.

Whatever happened to it being the thought that counts huh?!

A Housewarming gift in my eyes is a pot plant or similar. They already have furntiture etc so it seems like they are after something for nothing! Stick to what you can manage and do not be sucked into paying too much for something that will gather dust and will then be sold on at a carboot sale when they declutter!

I know, she's like this with everything, I'm dreading the day her baby is due although that's after the new year!

  • housewarming gift... buy a large terocota pot (approx £2) then buy some crystals (not the real ones) fake ones from a hobby shop and glue (approx £3) and decorate the pot (free) then go to the garden centre and buy some flowers to fill the said pot (approx <£5) total approx £10 and if you have £10 spare a £10 garden voucher  = £20

baby gift... nappy cake (see the special occasion board) approx £25 and recycle one fo you xmas gift sets (smellies) for the mother :T :rotfl: or is that just too savey :rotfl:

That was my thinking, I should be able to get, baby shower (I know she'll have one!), Birth and First Christmas if I think about it. Oh and Christening.
