Can we get any benefits?

Options
Can you help please. I recently handed my notice in at work (I ended my employment on 17/03/12) as I have a 1 year old child and my job just did not work with having a baby. I worked long hours and never saw my little boy. My employer could not offer me anything more suitable so I had no other option. My husband works full time and had an annual income of approx. £19,500. We have a house which is morgaged that we rent out (it was only 1 bedroom and we could not sell it due to possible negative equity so now we live in a rented house and let this small house out) the income yearly from the rent is £5,100. The value of the house is approx £85k. We are now starting to struggle financially. I have enquirer about tax credits but understand we are not entitled to anything. I am starting to look for part time work and wondered about job seekers allowance. I also wondered about contribution job seekers allowance.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Dear Lotty1974

Thank you for your query. After considering your request we felt that there were a number of issues that were inter-connected regarding benefit entitlements and an overall fiinancial/debt assessment that an adviser at your local Citizens Advice Bureau could help with.

This would mean we would be able to explore what benefits you may be able to access in more detail and provide a specialist service relating to debt issues for example negotiating payment plans with your creditors if this was necessary.

We are not certain as to the Bureau in Cheshire that would be local to you but if we canprovide you with the details for the Crewe Bureau

    Cheshire East CAB
    Crewe outreach
    50 Victoria Street
    CREWE
    Cheshire
    CW1 2JE

Alternatively you could find your local Bureau through the following website

    http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/

We hope they may be able to assist you with this.

    Regards

    Birmingham Citizens Advice Bureau

    :)
