  • Just remembered - not only did I NOT have to use my dresser money for the electric, (as my husband had an 'emergency' £20 hidden away) but I found £20 in the pocket of my winter coat, so have put it straight into the account!

Things are really looking up :T

Hi Thistle - so pleased for you - not only do you get your new car but you have found money as well (ok so it was yours to start with but still a lovely surprise!). Glad you are feeling a little better today xx

  • Thanks Dolly and Smolly! :D

I only wallowed in self pity for a short time after finding out our car is knackered, all I could think of was having to give up my music career when it's just started going somewhere. Actually it was reading your post Smolly that helped me to pull up my bootstraps and get on with it.

I really hope this car will last us awhile - the one FIL gave us was well taken care of but had high mileage. This one has under 60,000 and from what we have read, Vauxhalls are built to last longer than the Suzuki. It's no surprise - the Suzuki was about £6000 brand new for a model with all mod cons, they can't build and sell cars that cheap and not make compromises somewhere.

We're going after dinner tonight to pick it up. It's from a small local-ish dealer and we are hoping we can do a little trade-in. He has the space and know-how to break the Suzuki for parts, and we just want rid.

  • Good luck for later on with the car.

  • Fantastic news about the car!!!!!

I over it when you find money in a pocket you weren't aware of! Best feeling ever!

  • The car is immaculate and drives beautifully. There is a 3" scratch on it but aside from that, it looks almost new. It's quite a bit more substantial than our old car, bigger and more luxurious. The man selling us gave us £100 for the old car, which we were over the moon about. We have 7 days if we want to return the new one for a full refund and a 3 month warranty against any faults.

I can't see us returning it unless something major goes wrong - it is absolutely lovely! :)

  • Thank you both!

I am going to the Dr tomorrow to find out about my heart, hopefully it won't be anything serious. I'm still having flutters but not as bad as they were a week or so ago.

I have been very sore for the last two days - I have "probable" Lupus - probable because I have all the symptoms but tested negative on the main test they use. In the last 5 years they haven't been able to pin down exactly what it is that has been causing the pain and seem to have given up trying. I went from being a keen cyclist on the local team to not being able to get out of bed overnight. The Dr put me on a large dose of steroids and other meds which eventually got me out of bed but also caused major weight gain, which of course puts more of a strain on your entire body. I'm determined to get the weight off in the next 12 months and get back on the bike in some capacity... :)
