LAMBETH residents parking permits

why is it that some boroughs leave residents be and just chareg them a minimal fee for their residents permits and debt ridden labour controlled Lambeth council seem to spend their entire days hunting donw decent tax-payers and nailing them for an extra few quid.

so on earth can taxing you £200-£300 for a parking permit improve co2 emissions in the UK.

most councils around the UK viewed such labour back stabbing tax ideas as lunacy and treated them with with the contempt they deserved by ignoring the suggestions from the robber-in-chief. lambeth however was delighted to claim that the vast majority of households in lambeth do not drive - and that increases would only affect a minority of people - a statement they may live to regret as it may not be the case and lambeth may well have had data at their fingertips that showed it was not the case - much as they had during the lambeth parking investigation of 2004 when they falsely told gullible councillors that control plus had no financial incentives to issue pcn's - they forgot to mention the massive financial penalties for not reaching the 'exected levels of activity' as lambeth parking service politely call dishing out parking tickets.
Lambeth have apparently carried out a detailed study of neighbouring and similar boroughs and that's how they came to increase their charges along with consideration of reducing co2 emissions - money did not come into it apparently.
the only problem is that lambeth keep talking about having carried out detailed research of other boroughs in order to come up with these scandalous new charges - tripling the charges in some cases, however when asked to produce that data showing which boroughs similar to lambeth they based their new charges on on they have been unable to produce one piece of evidence.

The truth probably is that they simply made up some figures in order to rob motorists blind after all how do you assess the effect of the cost of a permit on co2 emissions when half the borough live on estates where they pay nothing or £25 for their permits; surely with the roads free from tax-paying motorist who have to park in street residents bays surely all the estate tenants will be above to drive around freely all day increasing co2 emissions.

Certainly the drug runs betweenangel town estate, stockwell gardens estate and dorset road will be a much less stressful journey for the drug dealers, who i'm sure will be most appreciative of the council pricing decent people off the street and forceing them back indoors at night in stead of noseing around and interfering with these neighbourhood watch meetings and things.

The streets of brixton should be freed up so that crackdealers can trade freely without having to race around lawabiding citizens who pay for stupid residents permits when they could get park for free on a council estate and deal drugs for a living.

You could ask them how a parked car emits CO2? There was an article in the Daily Mail the other day talking about increases in resident permits and how councils are upping their prices for older cars that are parked and are totally harmless.

If I were you I would write to your MP to complain and ask him to discuss ways in which the government could improve their plans for upping the tax on cars that they perceive emit large amounts of CO2. Perhaps our government could consider a scheme such as the one in Singapore where no vehicle is over 10 years old because the individuals are notified that their vehicle is reaching that age so that they can go and scrap it and get a certificate of scrapping which they then hand in and the government then gives them money towards a new vehicle. It seems to work quite well over there and the pollution is nowhere near as bad as over here.

Another way to cut down CO2 emissions in London in particular and it will cut down on that dreadful orange smog that you get and that is to get rid of the bendy bus (they are so slow and ponderous) and get rid of the congestion zones so that traffic can flow - people seem to spend their time looking for alternative free routes in and out of London just to avoid these zones. The Department of Transport should also be cracking down on the owners of vehicles that obviously pollute and pour black smoke from their exhausts - namely dodgy lorries, cars and taxis as it is obvious that these vehicles haven't been serviced. The relevant borough councils should spend money on repairing roads rather than their free junkets - a smooth road means smoother driving and therefore less emissions because drivers are not trying to dodge the enormous potholes, perhaps if they also got rid of the street furniture that they have introduced - Fentiman Road springs to mind because it narrows and widens, it has these dreadful humps that drop away suddenly due to the camber of the road thus damaging the suspension on the car. The road is becoming more pot-holey because the humps are wearing away. Traffic should flow and not sit around emitting more smog and poison.

good points spider man(horace the spider) - what Lambeth shodul do is take on board the ideas of someone with a brian - boris(a name made famous by the Who 'boris the spider') - council are entitled to charge for companies to carry out road works and to fine them is they go overtime - boris recognises this and is acting. Lambeth allows road works that are mindless wastes of money such as the fentiman road illegal obstacle course(hump faces are above 10cms height), and allows other road wotks to drag on for yonks without any penalty. Odd isn't how labour controlled lambeth are happy to flap fines and treble the cost of residents permits yet does not want to upset big business by fining overrunning roadworks - just typical of labour!

Lambeth is the only Labour controlled council to treble parking permit costs - and are viewed by many as on the lunatic fringe of socialism - taxing those who they see as rich - anyone not living on a council estate or housing association estate and giving almost free parking permits to all those on housing benefit in council and housing estates - it is clear and blatant discriminiation; if lambeth was genuinely concerned about co2 emissions then why not charge esxactly the same exorbitant fees for labour supporting chums on the council estates - because they would lose votes perhaps?

just have a look at the difference in charges even though it's exactly the same company that acts as traffic wardens for both on street and estates:-

lambeth labour supporting council estate residents permits cost £25 regardless the size of the car - you could have a monster truck with massive emissions but labour appears not concerned about your emissions as long as you are likely to vote labour.
permits for visitors to lambeth council estates cost only £1.50 per day and you can buy books of 50 permits!

    http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/Services/HousingPlanning/CouncilHousing/ChargesParkingEstates.htm

decent tax payers residents who live in private rented accomodation or god forbid are saddled with negative equity mortgages in a property they have bought, well they pay something different:-
up to £200 for a residents permit
    http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/D7A6E887-1ACD-40AD-9DBC-8FB9D167BCCB/0/EmissionsChargingRules2.pdf

for vistors permits the cost is £3.50 per day
    http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/Services/TransportStreets/Parking/ParkingPermits/ResidentVisitorParkingPermits.htm

however if you are a trader(not market trader - infact lambeth have refused to define what a trader is perhaps is is a drug dealer or counterfeit dvd and stolen goods salesperson) you pay only £2.50 per day

    so to sum up if you are living in accomodation that is traditionally labour voting don't worry about savage lambeth labour co2 back door taxes on parking your or visitors cars as lambath labour have exampted you from increases yoy pay only £25 per annum and can drive a monster truck - so for two cars that £50 and £1.50 for visitors permits;
if however you have 3.5 kids and both of you work and pay taxes - tough !!!! as lambeth labour hate you and you willscrew £200 out of each of you - that's £400 and if any relatives want to visit that's £3.50 a day as lambeth labour don't want to encourage your sort(people not on benefits) into the borough, as you will make some residents feel lazy and inadequate.

But it's not all bad under lambeth labour set aside the whopping pay rises for the new lambeth cabinet and the millions of pounds lost in housing fraud and teh black hole in the finances, they are doing some things i actually approve of:-
The nameing and shaming of drug dealers and the like on the lambeth council website and the new voice recognition software to catch benefit cheats - and these ideas appeared to come form Steve reed the labour leader for lambeth who compensated himself by doubling his salary and paying one of his chums £5000 for attending 2 meetings and then there's the labour councilor who lives and works in Bristol yet is a lambeth councillor - how does that work does he claim expenses for travelling from bristol for each meeting? I know one lambeth trade unionist councillor chap who claimed tens of thousands of pounds while claiming to be living in scotland and all was going swimingly until he was reported for fraud.
why can't i ever think of anything much nice to say?
  • or maybe labour are trying to make change?

I know you would all moan if there was a free for all and you couldnt park at all.

What ever they try to do people will moan
  • should labour be kicked out at next local elections
this is not trying to help motorists and save the planet - these lambeth labour greedy guts are quite obviously targetting everyine that does not live on a council estate.
lambeth officially say that the main reason for the increases is to cur co2 emissions - so where is the logic in only apply the increases to non-social housing tenants - other than the fact that they generally vote labour.

lamabth labour are certainly not interested either in ensuring that i have somewhere to park my car as they have just waived through three new developments for housing which have no parking facilities and lambeth planning have not imposed and restrictions such a permit exclusions for these new developments, as any sensible and respectful coucil would do.
I have approached lambeth and asked them to intruduce a waiting list if there are more permits issues than resident bays(not joint use bays) - they have refused to do so and woudl rather collect £200 fro a load of new permits knowing full well that a percentage of permit holders will have no chance whatsoever of parking in their area.
Saying that the permit does not guranatee you a space is one thing but delibereately issuing loads more permits than there are spaces surely that is either fraud or a trading standards issue.
It reminds me of overselling of plane seats, but at least then you are still guaranteed a seat on the next plane - resideents in lambeth may never get to park anywhere near their house ever again as lambeth agressively force through planning permission for all new social housing regardless of the extra strains it puts on services as long as all those who come into lambeth are labour voters.
