Declaring for January.
Got a few transfers to move a bit about but they're all scheduled and at month end my position will look like this:
Tesco Current: £763
FD Regular: £600
BofS Vantage: £5,000
TSB Regular: £3,000
TSB Classic Plus: £1,500
Natonwide Regular: £1,500
Total balance across all accounts: £12,363
Starting balance: £12,976.79
Saved to date: £-613.79
Still to save: £12,613.79
This was totally expected. I put all my spending on a credit card and clear the balance in full each month. My January bill always takes a beating because of Christmas and my wife's birthday. It's also my broadband renewal date (and I pay line rental in advance), paid for my next term of Spanish lessons, and we went away over New Year so it includes all my spending from that. I don't separate my "Save £12k in 2016" savings from my "Anticipated Expenditure" savings - and I'm not actually as far behind as I expected.
All being well I should get my annual bonus in Feb, which should put me on a firmer footing.

January is a busy month for me so I have tried to give myself plenty to live on in my budget categories but I'm hoping I can minimise the damage and add a little extra in next month.
We will see. It may not be possible and I won't beat myself up if I don't manage it. I'll just keep that thought there to curtail frivolousness. :rotfl:0 -

Hi everyone,
It's been great to read this thread and I feel very inspired to save. I originally set my saving target for this year as £12,000 but I think I will reduce this to something a little more achievable - perhaps £8,000 (if not less)!
I tend to save my money into two accounts - a house deposit account and holiday fund. The holiday fund as you can imagine does get used and so I don't feel it would be right to use this as a proper savings account - however my house deposit I try not to take money out of that once it goes in.
January has so far been a rather long month - I got paid mid-December and so I've had to ensure that paycheck lasts which has been easier said than done!
Anyways, just thought I would say 'hello' and a thank you for the inspiring reads! Happy saving!

Made my January transfer today, £1625 - spreadsheet update done, I am number 55! As we will be starting Auto-Enrollment on 1st February, I shall be putting as much as I can into that but will be counting it as long-term savings as I only have five years to retirement!“And all shall be well. #67 reporting in with a pretty dismal start to the year - £200 into the savings account!
It will be the same up until May because of various holidays/weddings making me unable to save very much but heyho, better than nothing!

You submit your easy update google form (at the bottom of the first post) and slowlyfading updates the spreadsheet with all the submissions - then when she tells us she has done it, we go into the spreadsheet and see how we are all doing. She likes to get the updates from the forms so she doesn't miss them in the thread.
