Good news - found my DKU-5 cable (there was one supplied with my 6680).

Bad news - none of the COM port settings result in a connected phone!

Downloaded the cable driver and Nokia PC Suite - which does connect to the phone OK.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

open bb5logunlocker with notepad and edit the comport listed as well, then you will be able to open it up

Did you adjust your com port to a number between 1-9 in the hardware tab profile and did you open up the CFG file and input this number and save it?

I tried all COM ports 1-9 in the config file, but where do I "adjust the com port"?

    Thanks.

Has anyone managed to get their BB5 phones unlocked so far?

Could someone shed some light on as to how to carry out the 2nd step of:

    1. Connect DKU-5 or normal COM cable to computer
    2. Set proper COM cable port (must be, between 1 and 9)

    Thanks in advance!

you have to edit the cfg file,

    4. Open file c:/bb5_unlocker/logs/bb5_unlocker.cfg (Open this with notepad) and enter here proper COM port (1-9)

    5. Run c:/bb5 unlocker/BB5logunlocker.exe (looking at the video posted this part is done in a dos window,Start, then ALL Programs, then Accessories, then Command prompt and then run the program direct from the directory, not from windows)

once the code is read you then go back to Windows and click on the BB5 calc program and it should say done

then click on the BB5 unlocker and click SP Unlock

watch the video JayMarsh posted a few times to get the idea

Click start, right click "my computer" and click on properties. This will bring up the system properties box, click on the hardware tab and choose device manager. Click on the ports icon to open it up, you should see your cable listed. Right click on it and choose properties and then port settings. Click advanced and it will show you which port you are using.

It needs to be 1-9, if it is higher than this then click the tab and change to one in the range of 1-9 that is not currently being used. Once you have done that follow the instruction listed above and
Open file c:/bb5_unlocker/logs/bb5_unlocker.cfg (Open this with notepad) and enter here proper COM port that you have for your cable, just replace the current number that is already there with the correct one, don't adjust anything else or remove the :

Got DKU-5 Genuine with NOKIA drivers installed

Posted on another forum by a user,

"I have just successfully unlocked my 6630 which was locked to Orange. Although the phone came with a DKU-2 cable I bought a DKU-5 off ebay to do the unlocking. This would only work when I had installed the Drivers on the CD which came with the cable. It would not work with the Drivers downloaded from the usa Nokia site."

any ideas of alternative drivers to use for this cable then?

    thanks!

I believe that you are using a non genuine Nokia DKU-5 which is why the drivers won't work.

I think this driver will do the trick, no good for Vista, XP only I think.

    First download on the list.
