RR Phantom posting on another thread is also blaming us all for using Wolstenholmes, saying we are cheapskates for using a firm that charges £99

It is repugnant to suggests that the only reason individuals instructed this firm was because they were cheap, they were not the cheapest quote I received. For me there were a number of factors that influenced my decision, the fact that they purportedly had 4 national offices, 160 employees and had been established since 1818 all influenced my decision to instruct Wolstenholmes.

But regardless of whether they were cheap or online as opposed to local, as they were local to some people, they were regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), when a firm is regulated by the SRA members of the public should be able to take comfort in the security that the SRA should provide. As I understand it issues had been raised with the SRA almost a year ago about the goings on with this firm. I would hate to think that due to the inaction of the SRA I am now caught up in this misery that is blighting my life and my health.

To those of you who have my money you obviously needed it more than I do. I hope it brings you happiness. For those of you who has caused my pain and sorrow and taken away from me my joy of a new home. I hope you are well.
  • Nasir Ilyas is/was one of them.

How do I find out who the other(s) are?
  • I am so sad and sorry for the people who are in hock to thousands to this awful company. My wife and I have been fortunate and are only due the outstanding £300 deposit. I will gladly join the queue BEHIND those people to claim our money.
There are clearly many that deserve to be in front with their life savings and earnings at stake. I too find it very dubious that the SRA have not acted sooner when they clearly knew something was amiss. How mny others must there be who are blissfully ??? unaware of what is going on and have invested their time, documents, deposits and other savings in this totally shameful firm!!
  • This feels like a ..dare I say it .. Witch hunt.
I'm afraid to say anything less I be called
    some insulting name or other.
I have found imran hussain to be polite
    and sincere .
There may be some scam but I don't agree
with scape goating one individual .
I think that's the mentality of a bully baying
for blood which doesn't seem right to me.
  • And just to ward off viscious criticism -
no I am not a "plant"
just a genuine member of the public who
believes in giving people a fair trial.
And someone who has watched this thread
but who doesn't have the time to be contributing
    to it every day .
But someone who has known of this person you all appear
to be pulling apart with apparent glee.
It doesn't seem right to me - so yes I am speaking
    up .
It seems the worst sort of lynch mob mentality I've seen in a
    long time.
I hope you get your money back.
I don't see how tearing someone to shreds without
any real evidence of the truth behind this mess is helpful.
I hope you all sleep well in your beds.
    Really I do.

Your words and attitude are of little comfort to me and many others who tonight are homeless, who know not where our next meal may come from because all their life savings is gone, untraceable.

Whilst your personal experience of Mr Hussain was a good one mine was not. Upon Mr Hussain's advice and illicit promises tens of thousands of my money is missing. Whilst I accept he may not be the ONLY ONE responsible for this travesty he had ample opportunity to warn me and others as to what was going on but instead he allowed me and countless others to transfer our lifesavings into his incompetent hands.

As Managing Partner, responsibilty has to lie with him and the negligent advice he gave me. So you may sleep well tonight but I assure you I will not, not until I know the whereabouts of my money and not until my money is safely back into my account.

Whatever the reason for this and Mr Hussain's failure to act accordingly hundreds, if not thousands of lives have been ruined, I cannot begin to describe the enormity of his actions and those of his fellow colleagues at Wolstenholmes. So until you have walked a mile in my shoes forgive me if I do not share your sentiments and enthusiasm for joining the Imran Hussain !!! Wolstenholmes fan club. I wish I had never heard of any of them.
  • ugly mug? actually, i think he's quite foxy and a decent lawyer! he acted for me on a litigation matter and was really helpful. So..............bit of a which hunt really.....

See post #170 from moongate on 17th December at 9:07 a.m. The name Waseem Siddique (or Saddique) has cropped up more than once in this thread.
  • Just to update you all, BBC Manchester's radio show went out at around 08:10 this morning which contained an interview with a solicitor also caught up in this mess so I think its fair to now dispell any myth about the profession protecting its own.

Also it contained an interview with Mr Hussain, yes Imran Hussain himself. In fairness to Mr Hussain he did point out that he had only been with the firm for 3 months and that he was not responsible for the firms accounts, this statement alone is now causing me concern.

He did however apologise unreservedly to those of us who were due to exchange and complete and were not able to due to the firm's intervention. I should like to make it clear as I was believing him until that point that I was due to complete on 22 December, my money went into their accounts on the 17 December, the firm was intervened on 24 and 27 December with their accounts frozen on the 23 December. So you see it wasn't due to the intervention as to why I did not complete it was due to Wolstenholmes that my completion did not take place that's one thing the SRA cannot be blamed for!
