Thank you Glittery and Jay II. I have done most of them except go veggie and to be honest we only have meat a few times a week. A weekly roast is mostly all we I can afford and that makes another couple of meals, it's the cost of fruit and veg that's my biggest bill. I'm off to check my cards though I move them but then I forget when they slip back from 0%. This month is going to be a killer no more debt busting until Feb I have £505 in bills and I'm only going to get paid £330. I'll think of something.

I use a budget app (YNAB) that lists all my out/in money and all my cards, their balance and the end date of any offer (I can get a bit obsessive about budgeting :o), but phone reminders of the dates or notes on a cheap calendar would also work.

    That's a big deficit, I hope you find a solution. :A

  • I need to get more organised. I'm a lot better than I was but there comes a point that if I really think about what I haven't got then I won't get out of bed on the morning. My partner died and I lost his income and you suddenly have to find an extra £800 a month when you are on your knees. I never appreciated the financial aspect of death.

#43 made an extra £32.27 this month so far so going straight off a debt :) How do you all work out your monthly payments to credit cards? I still pay interest on mine so I guess I deduct the interest paid to get to the actual amount I have paid off? Hoping to do some switching this year to reduce the interest, always fearful I will be rejected even though I have never been before. I HATE being in debt these days so glad the light bulb has finally pinged in my brain!

I wait till I have my statement in for all cards, then I update this thread with the total for the month, I find this easiest

    Great going everyone :)

There is a credit card eligibility checker on here, I didn't think we would get any 0% cards but tried the checker last april and we now have 90% of our debt on 0% cards :)

  • Thanks kindofagilr, I did just that and have both been accepted for a card, one with 42 months on and one with 18months on so once we have got those and got it sorted online etc the only debts we will have are the nxt acc which I am intended to clear asap, and the loans which are both very low but maybe able to change to 0% cc further down the line, don't really mind those as they are reducing nicely in the background, it is the blooming nxt and cc that I really feel are hanging round my neck.
Thanks again, great people and great thread
