in Credit cards
Hello,
I'm looking for some all round advice and guidance really. I've been with Barclays Bank since I started having my own Debit Card which would be around 7-8 years ago? I don't know why this is the case but I am apparently not eligible for a Barclays Initial Credit Card...
Since March of this year, I now live in the Channel Islands. I work full-time and have a good salary which will increase in the next year. I am renting a room, but before, I lived with my parents back in the UK. I have now changed my address on my Barclays bank account yesterday as I had forgotten to do that.
I have absolutely no debt, no credit cards, loans or anything like that but I'm still getting declined from what seems to be everywhere for my first credit card. All I want to do is get on that ladder to increasing my credit score so that later on in the future if I do need to apply for a loan for whatever the purpose may be, my application will be a bit stronger as I would have a credit card and hopefully will show that I can make payments back on time as expected.
Barclays won't offer me an initial card, really have no clue. I've used the eligibility calculator which asks if I've inputted all the data correctly in a red box such as my name, DOB, address etc and of course I have it's all correct..?
I'm 24 so still relatively young but I really need to start having a credit card now.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Regards,

Ignore your credit score and apply for a sub prime card. E.g. Aqua, vanquis, cap one - any one that allows cards in the Channel Islands, which will restrict your options.0

I don't understand how living in the Channel Islands hampers your chances of getting a Credit Card0

Not all lenders will issue to the Channel Islands.0

Because they aren't oart of the uk and have their own legal system.0 -
Go and speak to the branches in the town and ask them... I'm sure you are not the only person on the island that this has happened too.
Get some good banking advice and check you meet their criteria...if not you might need to work on it...
How about asking your parents for credit card. They can be main holder and you can then pay them to pay your debit off..
If you say you are good with money from your previous post I'm sure they are would be willing to help...0 -

Hi, I've just tried all these and a few more who all say I am not eligible. This is starting to really annoy me now.....0 -
Have you tried other ways of improving your credit ability, like a mobile contract, a store card etc ext?0
