I did think that virgin was a good brand before this episode!

knowing that it isn't actually virgin but their just paying for tehe name just feels like another slap in the face really.

I hope Mr. Branson is enjoy his money, because the effect this is having on the brand name really cant be worth it!!!

Safe to say I will be very wary of virgin services or products in the future!

STILL in the two week waiting period for a reply - the response had better be good.

on the plus side I havent received any more threatening letters over the incorrect account so maybe just maybe they have finally sorted it out!

    FINGERS CROSSED!!!

YOU ARE STUCK WITH YOUR DEBT IF YOU CANT BUDGE IT! LOL!
:hello: DFW :hello: Thank you Martin!!! !!! !!! :money:
  • I think on the whole virgin products/brand is quality, but Branson should really pull the plug on this. NTL/VirginMedia etc etc are a disgrace and if I were him I would not let them use the Virgin name with a barge pole.

So Richard if you are allowing NTL to use the Virgin name my advice to you is to get them to stop now and sell up your 10.5%.

They are going to ruin your good brand and name

Here here Stiffnuts69 what a sham of a company to use the Virgin name.

Here here Stiffnuts69 what a sham of a company to use the Virgin name.

Richard Branson sold Virgin Mobile to NTL, so that's now just using the name too.

Virgin Radio hasn't been a Virgin company for many years too, own by SMG.

Virgin Music is no longer a Virgin company, but owned by EMI.

Richard Branson hasn't been happy with NTL tainting the name, although he's only a 10.5% shareholder, he could decide not to continue to allow them to use the name.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Virgin HAVEN'T taken over. It is still NTL, it's just that NTL now pay to use the Virgin brand name and have bought Virgin Mobile too. Richard Branson has nothing to do with the day to day running of the company, that is still NTL, he is just now a 10.5% shareholder after selling Virgin Mobile to NTL.

I'd rather not have any throttling, but it's better than the other ISPs that state you can only download so many GB per month before they either cripple your speed to dial-up speed or charge you for each extra GB. Other that advertise unlimited, also have a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) or Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP), they state that although the service is unlimited if you constantly download too much they will kick you off the service, some tell you what too much is - like 40GB others don't tell you, they just send you a warning that you have downloaded too much and do it again and your terminated.

With VM if you are on the 20Mbit service you just have to make sure you don't download more than 3GB or upload more than 1.25GB during the hours of 16:00 and 21:00. For all other times you have no worries about how much you are downloading.

Even with VM's STM throttling on the XL (20Mbit) service flat out you could still download 186.35 GB in 24 hours, most other ISPs would kick you off if you downloaded that in a month.

If you have issues with your broadband not related to the STM throttling, then you can use the excellent support via the newsgroups, UK staff and available 08:00 - 22:00. VM on the xTelewest side have offered this support for years, last year they were then able to offer support for the xNTL side to via this system.

See: https://www.virginmedia.com/newsgroups for details on setting up newsgroups.

virginmedia.support.broadband.cable is the newsgroup for cable broadband support.

Mmm, interesting reading...and now I am more than determined I'm moving to another ISP...this bunch of clowns don't know their proverbial you know what from their elbow. Every single month the bill is wrong, every single month I waste time on the phone haggling that I have ONE box and not two - I am on cable modem only - stop charging me for two boxes! Then they decide to charge me twice what they should be for broadband - every single ***** month - I refuse to pay till I get an amended bill (and had to fight tooth and nail to get a paper bill - do not WANT email bill) and what do they do? Cut of my broadband with no warning - I phone them and ask to reconnect - they demand payment - I refuse - then get some arrogant little...grrrr...talking to me as though I'm five years old. When I tell him that I'm pretty sure I'm not the only customer with this problem he's telling me that other customers don't matter - they're not important and what other customers think about anything is irrelevant. I am sick and tired of this company and all the hassle I get monthly...I want to ring up and ask for my MAC code so I can move providers but they probably won't let me have it till I've paid the bill - which I will pay when they get the dang thing right!! Okay - rant over....

Im so glad Im gonna be rid of virginmedia. I have given my notice and all my services I have with them will stop on the 17th of april.Hurray...I will be without tv,home phone and broadband but id rather go without that have to put up with another months of wrong billing.By the way, the deposit you pay which some ppl might of when they joined does not get paid back to you like I was told.Apparently it gets deducted from your 1st months bill-so anyone cancelling should check there bills. My billing was messed up from day one. I hope I managed to find some where to live so when I move I wont be long without my new services which i will take on SKY.

ive just moved to sky on 16mb for £10 a month. I cant speak highly enough of them at the moment. Set up vey fast, adsl modem sent out within a day, and I am regularly getiing speeds of 14MB. Wish I done it sooner.

Virgin will try and rubbish adsl, old copper wires, distance from exchange etc etc, but I was on a 2mb connection for £10 a month and was lucky speeds of 0.5 - 1mb (explain that virgin). There traffic shapping is horrendous and is a result of them spreading themselves to thin.

I would never ever go back to virgin again even if their service was free.
