They're not living there anymore - but they have their washing up in the back yard??????
Or is the house even worse than we think - ie there isn't even a barrier between their back yard and the neighbours one?

I've owned a place like that. It can be very good. In my case, it meant that the neighbours talked to each other, regular backyard barbecues (if one person lit one up - it was deemed free to bring your own food and put it on, what goes around comes around), if you were wandering round the local pub, knocking on the back doors as passing down the yard generally meant the whole terrace going round the local pub.
Basically if you don't like the idea of other people around you don't buy this kind of house. So you generally end up with all people that are ok with the idea.0 -

It's near the heart of a very nice town- visited it a few days ago. Pretty prosperous, lots of jobs, Great place to buy a house.
But it has the Buckinghamshire secondary school place lottery. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Thanks. You've reminded me of how much I enjoyed reading Heidi as a child. Every Spring and Summer she and Grandad went up into the mountains and loved those views of Salford very much.
Life was so different then but they were simple and happy times.0 -

Been on the market since Dec 2013. So either the owner is a complete a**ehole or the EA is lazy - 3.5 years later.
Having a hairdressers nearby is a key feature!0 -

The other possibility, I guess, is a tenant that has no intention whatsoever of budging come hell or high water?0
