Are these scams?
I've had three calls today asking if i'd like to hear about there deals.
I asked both for companies name, they only give a Website. Forex Prime & I trader.
They have given two different names & both are from Cyprus. With possibly the same woman calling.
I had some fun with the first one ''asking her name, where shes based, whats her companies address etc she swore after I kept asking and hung up. The Second tried to fob me off with a website proclaiming they were authorised traders & said she would remove me from the calling list.(as yet no more)
I'm on BT's cold caller block, but they appear to have got my number from a registration off a website I forgot the ''tick box'' so that's how they get around that.
I'm not daft enough to give any details but if any users get these numbers it's them:
02038071683 known by scammer pretending to be London based
0035722059033 Cyprus code appear

How can you ban specific numbers from dialling and can I get any Compo for them breaking the ''Cold Caller Block''?

No!! Just time & patience. Putting it out there encase any others get called and seeing if it is a scam. Cyprus is in the EU & Telephone Scams generally come from outside it.

You can stop right there. They're scams.

And don't think the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) saves you from all scams, as it doesn't, UK, EU or outside it.

BT can block certain numbers for you but a) I think there's a charge; and b) they'll call from another number next time anyway. And, no, there's no compensation if they get past the TPS.
  • Not interested in any unsolicited calls / mails asking to do anything with my money.

These twerps can fake the originating number they use (Google search it next time), so there's no point paying BT.

    Just going slightly off-topic, BT's "U N W A N T E D C A L L E R" service has to be the most ironic scam going.
If they've got the damned software to stop "U N W A N T E D" calls for their paying customers.., JUST DO IT!

    1. Ignore any unsolicited calls / mails /or those that come to your door.

    2. Use a trueCall Call Blocker (£100+vat), or something similar.

    3. Do not give out personal information over the phone.

Follow all three of the above points, would be my suggestions for not falling for these scams

As a money saving site I certainly wouldn't suggest #2.

If I have any call where I don't recognise the number or is withheld then it goes to voicemail. Any legit caller will leave a message.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I agree £100 is too high.

On Amazon, my something similar leads to the Panasonic KX-TGC220EB Digital Cordless Phone.

(With the same high 4.5 out of 5 stars rating, from 758 postings).

    Cost about £24.

    A saving of £76 :T
