    Yes. Bought 2 HDMI cables in Poundland, Plymouth this morning! Plenty of stock on the shelf. Cables work fine.

    I got a £5.99 cable from HMV to use with a Panasonic HDD/DVD recorder and Panasonic LCD TV.

    At various times, I get exactly the same symptom described by the tester examining the shielding of the cheap cables he was using (can be found in one of the links provided above) - dropouts of sound, patches of 'snow' across the screen, etc.

    I think there's a line between 'faulty' and 'badly/cheaply/shoddily constructed'

    The fact that it works in the main for 99% of the time, but shows these symptoms intermittently, indicates not a fault scenario, but a susceptibility to interference, that a better-constructed cable doesn't show. A faulty cable in my view just won't work, full stop.

    I have a second DVD recorder connected to the same TV with a different brand of HDMI cable (slightly more expensive), and it shows no interference of this nature.

    I bought an HDMI cable from Wilkinsons at £8.49 last week before I saw this article, and was thinking I'd bought the cheapest one around. In fact, I was quite pleased with myself.

    Then I read on this thread about the £1 Poundland lead, and yesterday bought two from Poundland, and then took my (unopened) lead back to Wilkinsons for a full refund.

    I'm £6.49 in pocket and I've got a spare lead.

    Loads of these in stock at Poundland Sauchiehall Street Glasgow on Tuesday.

    Bought one and hooked it up to my son's PS3 and TV.

    It's working fine.
