Classic probate property. It makes me a little sad when I saw the two walking sticks on the back of the purple chair in photo 2.
Check out those curtains! Look at the wood vinyl cupboards in the kitchen
Does anyone know what is that doll/whatever is doing on the bed on pic 7?
Definitely probate, even without those walking sticks in evidence.
They always look so sad/tired/outdated don't they?:( Must stop talking about my new-to-me house that way (as it was a very obvious probate property):rotfl:.
You do have to have a bit of vision and imagination with them and mentally rip out everything in them. I've got one room Bang Up To the Minute so far and clean/fashionable/functional. The rest are still 1970s at the moment.
These houses do take dedication/vision/lots of money thrown at them...0 -
There's quite a lot of these probates near me

The yellows and greens and a TV which looks like its been given as a gift and its never watched.
There was actually beds and more furniture last month but it looks like half the stuff has been removed and pictures updated.0 -

I'm wondering just who started it re not getting on with the neighbour and guessing its the neighbour that is the originator. Those two hedges bang alongside each other, but the neighbours' one is higher.
...and thinking "Here..... someone has whipped out my awful lounge fire and transplanted it to this house". She has exactly the same one as my dead former owner had. Yuk isn't it?:rotfl:
I think that house would require rather more than "a lot of vision" though judging by that neighbours hedge:(0 -
I had relatives living on this road until last year, so I know it isn't somewhere normally associated with grand pretensions or designs.
I really don't know what to say. Perhaps something like 'Man discovers architectural salvage fetish after dazzling experience on the road to B&Q'

I wonder if the two hedges in picture 8 are topiary. I thought it looked like a ship.0 -

A pity the house isn't as subtle as your comment!0 -

I've never been so relieved to see a wall painted magnolia!
And either there isn't a 90degree corner in the place, or the photographer has no sense of how to present a place well!!0 -

OMG.....that's downright weird
Now I like architectural salvage yards as much as the next house restorer - we have a large sculptural head in our garden that was once the property of Toyah Willcox courtesy of our local place - but some of the items used in that property are totally incongruous and inappropriate imho
As for all that awful exposed stone - not quite as much as we had to contend with (courtesy of PO who decided to recreate a Disney-esque pastiche of a cottage), but just as out of context in a property where internal walls would have always had a coat of lime plaster or lime wash
Truly horrid and well spotted Dave :eek:Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0
