From what i've seen, the purple debit card is the full current account one.

Blue is the other one ?
    HSBC (Main A/C)
    Halifax Back up A/C
    Lloyds (Spending) A/C
    RBS Back up A/C
    Barclays Old A/C
    Nationwide Old A/C
  • But people here have reported to get the blue card even with the full Natwest current a/c (Select a/c) as they credit score separately for the purple visa debit (their offline debit card). So I was wondering if some one has been accepted the cheque book (again credit scored separately I think) with the full current a/c during application is it that they automatically sent the purple visa debit card or can they still be sent the blue visa debit with the chequebook ?

Remember.... the 'Select Account' is the current account, it's just Natwest/RBS call it that.

and it comes with a PURPLE Card as stated here

    http://www.natwest.com/personal/current-accounts/g1/select-account.ashx

Now either that's purple or im colour blind hehe

  • Also I guess Natwest issues three types of debit card now ? One for the basic a/c (basic Written on the top left hand side) and restricted to using only the RBS group Atm's, Second the normal blue colour online visa debit card which can be used unrestricted at ATM's but restricted to using only at attended point of sale, and third their full fat unrestricted offline Purple colour Visa debit card which can be used at pay@pumps etc ? Can any one confirm or correct me on this ?
  • I thought they only had the two colours, blue and purple - with the blue one being the one that can be "tweaked" depending on the type of account and the purple one just being the "full fat" as you put it :P

I could be completely wrong but thats what i thought anyway!
Any input I provide is purely my own interpretation and is in no way 100% accurate, I will try to help as best I can in all cases.

You may not know but they changed their basic account in sept so that only their atms can be used. This means that there is now two types of blue card issued as described above by just_about. Holders of select accounts will get whichever card their credit score considers them worth of.

You can have either a blue (online) card or purple (offline) card on the Select account. Which one you get depends on your credit record. AFAIK, you can have a cheque book, and still be issued with a blue card. If you've been approved for an overdraft, you'll get the purple card, or at least you should do!

The basic account card, is totally separate from the cards issued on the current account

The card type given for your account is dependent on your credit score.
