My Tax Return is done:j It came out around the same as last year when I was expecting it to be a bit higher due to the changes around tax on landlords. I found that I was allowed to deduct some professional membership fees from my employment income as the organisation is now recognised by HMRC.

I tend to put a bit more than needed away for my tax bill so I was able to transfer over £100 on to the Christmas Credit Card and £20 into the 3 usual pots and 2 additional pots.

I used some of the Council Tax free month to replenish a shortfall in a savings account and I will allocate the balance to the pots when I do the money shuffling later this week. Overall not a bad start to the year.

Money is shuffled for the month. Having said that my bank account is looking very lean so I may shuffle a bit out of savings as the month progresses.

I batch cooked my lunches for the week (veggie pasties) and will make some soup too (I have broccoli and stilton in the fridge). I am starting filling up the freezer so I can avoid buying lunch in work. Next week will be spanikopitakia I have feta but the supermarket didn't have filo and I forgot to buy spinach anyway:rotfl: Good result there!!!

I need to check the mortgage figure and update my signature but I am now in the £230s.
I have set myself a mini goal - I have a £1300 pm repayment target to meet this stage my pay my mortgage off in 10 years goal. I have beaten this most months so I am gradually chipping away at the last full month of the plan. So the goal is to beat my £1300 target by £56 in total by my March payday to tidy the last month to a round number.

I made some broccoli, celeriac and stilton soup. I have been having soup and veggie pasties for lunch which has cut down on my spending quite drastically.

I have downloaded the Shopmium app and earned my first £3 back which will go going into the pots. I am keeping You Gov, Swagbucks, and One Poll ticking over.

I have been taking lunch to work (although not today:o). I need to make some soup tonight.

I cashed in £22 of change last week but this is a bit of a tight month as I needed to buy some new clothes so I won't move it until later in the month when I am paid.
I will just keep plodding until the end of the week and payday:T

Payday has been and gone. Money is shuffled and spreadsheets fiddled. It is a council tax free month too so that was an extra £40 for each of the pots and the mortgage.

I've updated my signature with the new figures.

    Hello everyone.

I have had details of my bonus and so there will be some money for the mortgage pot even after various expenses I've been putting off like getting new glasses. I will work out the exact figures once I get paid and see what tax and NI does to the amount.
I've made good start to the year with my OP to date at £788.90 against a target of £3100 (1% of original mortgage total).

In 2016 I put together a plan to pay off the mortgage by Sept 2027. I am slightly ahead of schedule with a target end date of Aug 2027. The plan ramps up in later years as the school fees fall away. So 9.5 years to go or 114 payments.
