Financial failure holiday protection

I have found an Australian photographic tour company on the internet offering a perfect looking tour in Japan. My annual holiday insurance does not cover tour company financial failure and I am unable to find any company that will cover a foreign based tour company. This particular company does not accept credit cards.

Does anybody have any ideas that could give me peace of mind?

Never trust a company who don't accept credit cards. Especially holiday/tour companies.

Why do you need a tour company to go to Japan, a country with an extensive public transport network?

See if you can book with a very low deposit and pay at the last minute.

Perhaps be cheeky and ask them to arrange to accept credit cards.

Have you gone onto Google Australia and done a search of the company's name? No company worth using would refuse payment by credit card, (let alone a travel company operating tours outside its own borders). I'm given to understand that Australian consumer law is not nearly as comprehensive as ours.
