It may also depend on where your travelling to.
I travelled on business with a colleague in a non English speaking country. They refused to let him on the plane because his passport showed his first name as Jonathon, but his ticket showed John.
As far as they were concerned, it was a different name.
For £7, I would change it.
That is totally different - more than 3 letters out!
That is like my trying to fly with Kath on my tickets when my name is katherine!
Most tickets are just initials nowadays anyway rather than a full name.Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -

They do security checks on passenger lists before you even arrive at the airport. these lists have to be provided by the airline sometimes weeks before and then are resubmitted when passenger names are added.
this is mostly automated and not done by a real person. so at this stage they do not have your passport name, just the false name you have purchased the ticket in.
as for the USA you may be refused entry if your passport dose not tie in with the list the airline has given them.0 -

In that case she has mis-informed you. There are quite strict rules relating to the spelling of pax names due to the security/immigration climate in which airlines operate today.
However in the OP's case the chances are that you could pass through security checks 99 times out of 100 and it wouldn't be picked up by anyone, but it only takes the one eagle eyed immigration officer/check-in agent/security memeber to notice and it may spoil your day !!! £7 (if no change in flight cost) for peace of mind or.................?? The choice is yours.

She just doesn't know when to give up :rotfl: - . What on earth does a page relating to BAGGAGE from the MyTravel website have to do with passenger identities ?
Oh i get it, my sister who's the BIG BOSS told me to put it there and says even though it says you can only take one piece of hand baggage they really mean 6 !!

I personally would not risk it as the only fixed rule is that the name on the ticket must be the same as on the passport.
any variation on this is at the discretion of the people at the airports.0
