Sounds like you are describing the BT Infinity 1 product (the up-to 38Mbps one), which has a £30 set up fee anyway.
Infinity 2 has no set up.
Seeing that BT are also increasing their prices which I guess affects nearly everyone, have you considered leaving BT for Plusnet or another provider?

Yes I do, but they are still 100% completely separate entities run by 100% completely different staff on a 100% completely different network (the only thing in common is it uses BT Wholesale for the backhaul).0 -
