  • All the cupboards are full...... so I have donated a carpet cleaner to a friend I have wood floors now so don't need it. How many dust pans and brushes do I need, moved all but one to the shed.
The fridge is well organised so I am happy with that.
I have stocked up on reduced de-icer, my aim is never to buy a full price tin again.
I will be clearing out my linen cupboard this weekend, I am planning towels x 2 bath and a hand per person and one set of bedding plus a spare for each bed. The rest I will donate to the dog home or use for rags.
There is too much in there no matter how much I organised the contents it always ends up a jumbled mountain.

I have stumbled across a way to clear out one of my cupboards.;) I haven't booked any time off work for this school hols as the youngest is now 14. Instead of rolling down the chippy for lunch, the money I left has been used for a weekly travel pass and socialising and they've eaten the items in the cupboard.

First time in years I think I've had some bare shelves and we have another weeks school hols to go. :D

I have been doing the Love Food Hate waste since the beginning of March and have used up so much stuff that I had in the cupboards.Takes a bit of getting used to at first but now I don't go near a shop if I can help it as my cupboards and freezer were absolutely crammed with food.Lots of OOD stuff has been used and I'm still alive and kicking :) my cupboards are starting to look slightly more normal now and I can at least see to the back of them My freezer is taking longer as I do have quite a busy life and often am not home to eat stuff up. But I have only shopped once this month and as I am away from next friday for a week I am using up all the fresh stuff that I can and wasting nothing. Saved a fortune in time and money over the past 6 weeks although I did post a cheque off to the Trussell Trust with left over cash from my March food budget. They can use it more than my OOD tins which I ate instead :):):)

  • I am planning a trip away, normally would buy new sun cream and insect repellent. This year I am using up all the stuff from last year, every last drop. Each year I think the unfinished stuff will be used up at home over the summer, but there is not much call for factor 50 in the north of England. Anyway I am always in work when the eventually sun comes out. This weekend I am planning to set up an organisation system, with week by week and month by month jobs that need doing to help get me focused and develop my routines.

Be careful doing this, the active ingredients may not be effective this long after opening. Just something to bear in mind if you're off to the tropics or something :)

If you look on the back of the bottle, you should see a picture of a jar/bottle with an open lid and a number at the side of it. The number is how many months after opening that the product will still be effective - providing of course you can remember when you opened it! :D I use up my after-sun as a general moisturiser throughout the year, so it never goes "off" and isn't wasted. :)
Be kind to others and to yourself too.
  • It is stuff from last year and has 12 months opening time so will be OK, plus more space in the cupboard .

  • Time to get my routines in order, I am going to concentrate on one a fortnight to get it embedded.

The first one is going to be 'Getting to work on time, with everything I need including a healthy lunch'

This will take preparation the night before

    Getting outfit and shoes ready
Charge phone and pick it up!!
    Keys handy
    Preparing healthy lunch
    Bag ready
    Going to bed before 11PM
Getting up in time so I do not have to rush and arrive on time (given up getting to work early, somehow cannot bear being there before I'm paid)

Having this focus will stop me feeling overwhelmed and hopefully make my day run smoothly.

How are you getting on with your lunches,Planning Ahead? I have tried making sandwiches with simple fillings that don't deteriorate when frozen, and freezing in bags or foil, They defrost over the morning and help keep the other things in the lunchbag cool. I still sometimes manage to forget to take one out, or decide that I can't eat any more peanut butter or cheese sandwiches for a while.

I found a few large packets of hand-cooked crisps on top of the wardrobe which I'd stashed away one Christmas but forgot about. The Use By date was Dec 2015 :o

I opened one & it was as crunchy as if just cooked - tasted fine too. Only one packet had a bit of an off-taste and smell (like old fat) so they got binned but the rest were eaten. :)
