Amazon statement not true!

So when I buy a book on Amazon below the book is a window stating "read on any device" however this is not true, I cannot read the book on my Kobo!

    Have you installed the Kindle app. on your Kobo?

    This ^^

    It says "Read on any device. Get free Kindle app". Also you buy the "Kindle Edition".

    Sorry, how do I install the app on my Kobo?
    There is no other edition of this and many other books available.

    If it's the tablet then you just download it from the Amazon website.

    If it's the e reader then you'll need to find an app that will convert the Kindle version to a compatible format.

    I have used Calibre to change books into Kobo friendly but the book I have bought on Amazon won't let me download it!
    Anyone know how to download it?

    Amazon have changed the protection recently - I can't change the format using the Calibre plug-in any more, I don't think anyone has cracked it yet.
    When they say any device, I guess they mean, Kindle, laptop, PC etc using the Kindle app.
    I think you'll struggle otherwise, unless you buy the Kobo version from the Kobo website.
    You may be able to cancel the Amazon purchase in .my order' on Amazon?

    OK thanks, I will cancel and get a refund.
    It is a shame that authors do deals with Amazon and books are not available from anyone else!
    This series of 9 books first available free on Kobo, second available to buy, third available direct from authors website but the rest only on Amazon!
    It is the Aurora series by G. S. Jennsen in case anyone can help.
