Never tried getting a better deal from Sky but prompted by the 12 month upfront payment option being withdrawn I thought I'd give them a call.
Had a very pleasant chat with a member of the retentions team and signed up for a new 12 month contract. Line Rental £ 140.40 for 12 months and unlimited ADSL for £2.50.

PS It seems that retentions are still able to do line rental upfront.

It was posted a few weeks ago, that sky are offering line rental up front, but only selectively.

I cancelled tv and asked about a phone/bb deal and got offered over £20. When my phone/bb minimum had a week to go, I called again and was offered line rental up front (no need to ask) and free broadband, but I wanted free line rental, so said I'd think about it.

The man didn't call me as promised so I rang and mentioned that his deal had not been enough to beat or match others .. and got what I asked for; anytime calls, line and bb £15. (I did take half price tv, as an afterthought, so reducing this to £12.50, plus £14 tv)

I don't want the tv. Just BB and line rental.
  • I just got
    Line rental saver
    Free BB
    Anytime international
    Equivalent to £21.70

I could have got it down further but my contract ends ina few days time.

You don't need to take tv for a good bb/line deal.

I originally asked for just bb and line (my tv had been switched off) and got the above mentioned £15 offer for bb, line and anytime calls. I then chose to take tv (no one pressed me to) and so improved the offer by £2.50.

Like I said, I don't want the TV. Just BB and land line so I might try and haggle down to £15 a month for both.
