They rang again today. I was at work again but this time they didn't leave a message.
If they ring again on Monday I will be in to answer it (though dreading it!), but if not, should I ring them??0 -
No do not ring them, It allows them to phone you. It most appear to have 0871,0844 or other numbers you wont get in free call packages.
Write to them, saying to remove your phone number you will only deal in writing. Do not admit the debt its an alledged debt which you dispute.and DO NOT SIGN the letter.
Just print your surname .

There IS no debt. I don't owe anyone any money. I'm working from home again today and part of me is sort of hoping they ring so I can say that.
Well, I'm really hoping they ask for someone other than me when I ring so I can say they don't live here (without mentioning my name)! But I am still worried - I've been tense since Thursday about it, which is stupid as there's obviously a mistake somewhere.
If they don't ring, I'm not sure about writing. At the moment I don't know they have my name, so wouldn't want to give them it.0 -
As others have mentioned, try to avoid talking to them as much as possible. As soon as they mention that they're BCW, state that you will only correspond in writing, and hang up.
The onus is on them to provide a written confirmation of your debt. If you don't have any debt, there's nothing they can do apart from pester and annoy you.

That idea did cross my mind!
Like I said if they ask for someone other than me, I will just say they don't live here and end the call without giving my name. I don't see how they can ask for me - if they do, there is definitely a mistake somewhere. In which case I will tell them to write to me.
I don't even have an address - sure Google can help there though they might have several! I just want them to s*d off and leave me alone, got enough on my plate the moment.
Without knowing who it is they are trying to speak to, I can't tell what to do I guess.
Trouble is, Thursday's call was a recorded message so if the call is just that I can't do anything. If it's a person who they switched it to the recorded message then I'll see who they ask for and go from there.
Thanks for the advice. Both calls were at lunchtime so I'll see what happens.0 -
They have since rang three more times but not at all when I was in. They left a message once - the same one as before that sounded like a recording. I still don't know if it's me they are after (and of so, why) so I am just ignoring them. Hope that's right! But I still wish they'd just get fed up and leave me alone.0

I've had a similar problem too.
A week ago, I got an e-mail from BCW saying that they've been trying to contact me and ask me to contact them immediately to discuss something urgent. I sent an e-mail back stating my mobile no and ask them to call me at a certain time the next day, which they didn't do.
Today, I went back to my previous address to collect some letters that have been sent there, and found a letter from BCW, I opened it and it said that I owed Carphone Warehouse O2, money. I checked for the client ref (not the BCW ref) and I noticed it looked familiar. With that, I looked through some old bills, and figure out that, that client ref is of an account I held with carphone warehouse around 4 years ago, and that I closed a year later. I've just e-mailed Carphone Warehouse explaining the situation to them and ask them if they could provide me with more details about the supposed debt, as honestly, I really have no idea where the debt came from.
After reading the posts here, I'm thinking of ignoring BCW but if the debt is real by any chance, I'm just not sure if something like this can affect my credit score. Any help?0 -
Well, I'm glad I found this thread. I googled them and it led me back to here (where I'm at home lol):D
We had answer machine messages left by them, I cannot for the life of me think who would be chasing us for debt, so have thankfully missed their calls.
Now if I answer one I will feel a little better about what to say, ie. write and prove it etc.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I was told by a lawyer that any company couldn't chase you for a debt which is over two years old! Anyone have any more info on that?0
