Perhaps this may be your issue, see this thread here:

    https://forums.tvaddons.ag/getting-started-with-kodi/46595-suddenly-sound-using-kodi-chromecast.html

"I have discovered the answer to my problem. My Chrome browser updated recently and apparently some of the "Chrome flags" are set differently. I needed to enable the flag #disable-audio-support-for-desktop-share
If you (like me) don't know how to do this. type chrome://flags/ into a chrome browser tab to see the list of all the tabs, I then copied in the #disable-audio-support-for-desktop-share line to find it, then clicked enabled and it's all hunky dory now."

You have probably muted Kodi. Press F8 on the keyboard to un-mute.

It's on my tablet not on a laptop so there's no f8

Your laptop should have a "FN" button that enables the function keys.

Secondly, is it doing that for all the movies? try playing it from <removed> and see if it's still muted.
