If you have 300 tubs of hundreds of thousands as they are so cheap to stock up on try stirring a handful through a plain cake mix before you put it in the oven. The colour slightly seeps out of them and you get rainbow bits in your cake, looks really pretty

OrkneyStar The value chocolate down the chocolate aisle is the same as the cooking chocolate but is 23p instead of 39p. HTH for next time.

Thanks, I will look out for that although the new Tesco is pretty small and does not have a lot that most mainlaind large stores do. Eg they only seemed to have local milk and a small selection of other types. No 2 for £2 or similar offers :o Once it has been open for a bit I plan to make a list of all the value things people mention on here and check which they stock. There is a huge one in Wick that we have been to and also we stop through bigger ones in Inverness and Perth and Royston (in Glasgow).

    nomnomnomnom!!

I added an extra tbsp of syrup to the mix, halved the mix and baked half plain (just in case the ginger ones weren't nice & then we'd still have biccies!). I added powdered ginger to the other half and baked - left them slightly soft. Yum yum yum! Ginger biccies with oats :D

I'm sure it's already been tried by loads of you, but it's first time I've done it - and will do again! Ooh - just thought - could try it with crystallised ginger too :D
