I wear very light make up probably twice a year!!! bought in boots when on promotion, probably spend £5 a year. shampoo ive won a years supply of this year! shower gel/ bubblebath I stocked up on 12 bottles at 20p a pop when sainsburys were selling off cheap! I always buy imperial leather soap, £1 for 3 bars, an anti bac liquid soap, and boots cucumber face wash and moisturiser when on 3 for 2 and triple points day! so I reckon over the year I spend less than £20 a year. also I forgot, im still using the bottles of pefume the ladies I used to work for threw out in their bins!!! currently using clarins le gardin....very nice too especially for free!!! still have a stock of 4 bottles after leaving the area nearly 2 years ago!!! x

My Grandma always told me it's worth it if you use it all the time, i.e. A £100 pair of jeans are cheap if you wear them most days for 5 years. £100 on a dress you wear once is an expensive item...

And that is so very true.

Don't wear make up very often, only when socialising. When working in an office I wore mascara daily - lancome - but no other makeup (I was going to say I just wore mascara and nothing else but realised what that sounded like!).

Following redundancy I am now a self employed home help and it is very physical work so no make up to run / mop up while I am working.

So beauty products, including basics for hygiene -
Sainsburys tea tree 2in1 shampoo and conditioner, 69p (suits my hair and smells nice. I have to be very careful about fragranced items as i am asthmatic and many fragrances cause me to wheeze).
Sometimes use extra hair conditioner that comes with the 8-weekly hair dye :). I am inclined to stop dyeing my hair because it is more white than brown now and looking at my current colour i see the blond is nicely blended and could grow out without looking too bad. DH is not kean, I think he is worried about his wife having white hair making him look old..... I am approaching my mid 50's.

Soap for body and face - fragrance free palmolive or small soaps that i buy as holiday souvenirs made from organic products that have delicate scents such as ginger.

    Fragrance free bubble bath.

Dove deo (one of the few I can tolerate re frangrance), bought cheaply online when high street stores only rarely stocked this particular one and the price rocketed.

Disposable razors because I am allergic to depalitory cream. I buy 'mens' because I realised years ago that you pay more for pink!

Fenjal body spray which i use on the soles of my feet after washing (tried everything else to control smelly feet - washing them twice a day was not sufficient - but only this works, and works a treat - saves me loads because my shoes last much longer).

A lovely, lightly fragranced body lotion on my hands and arms by ' Nest and Eggs' ( terrible name imho). I discovered this in a garden centre, after sniffing every other potion and finding them all far too strong).

I used to use a facial scrub but realise how bad this is for the environment so now use a rough sponge once a week to do the job. I always use a rough towel to dry, hate soft towels!

    Make up -
waterproof Clinique mascara. A tube lasts a year then i replace with xmas money!
A max factor compressed blusher i have had for years that is exactly the right shade.
Boots No7 cream foundation in a pot (no idea which one), again had it ages, applied by frequently-washed brush.
Lancome lip gloss. Yep, had it ages!
Boots No7 lippy, one of two colours in my extensive (not) collection.

Last time i wore eye shadow, which is rare, DH announced loudly, in all innocence, that I had something glittering on my eye lid :rotfl:

I used to bother with nail varnish occasionally but having de-cluttered I no longer have any.
I do my own manicures and have lovely strong nails so they usually look good and in fact get compliments.

I never wear perfume because almost all make me very wheezy. (I only get away with the fenjal because it is in my shoes so i am not breathing it in).
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

I think about £15 a month, averaged out? My hair is very fine and dry so I use Tresemme Salon Smooth on it. I went through a phase of trying cheaper brands but they mostly made my hair very frizzy and full of static, so I look at it as a compromise - it's a slightly more expensive shampoo and conditioner, but using it means I don't need additional oils to tame the flyaways!

I buy toothpaste, contact lens solution, facewipes and moisturiser from Tesco at the start of every month. I mainly use the Tesco cucumber skincare range, and whichever toothpaste is on offer so long as it's white paste, not gel or with bits in.

I only buy makeup maybe twice a year - I use powder, mascara, coverup and eyebrow pencil, all quite sparingly so they last a while. Not the cheapest since I buy Rimmel but the shades match my skin tone really well. I do sometimes get suckered in by new products - I'm always trying to find a foundation that'll stay matte the whole day, but they never do!

    Not that much.
Shampoo and conditioner is SP but I buy a litre at a time from ebay which lasts well over a year. Anything else makes my scalp itch.
Face - I like Olay daily moisturiser with SPF 30 as I have sun damage on my face but they have discontinued it so not sure what I will use next.
I wear makeup about twice a year - I have a nice Clinique foundation I bought in the US which came with masses of free gifts. That will dry up before I finish it - probably after about another 5 years.
I did get the M&S beauty advent calendar last year so those products will see me through for some time.
I don't like perfume and any old shower gel will do.

That's interesting as I like Clinique foundation in the glass bottle, is it the Superbalanced one you have? It ain't cheap but it does last ages. I also like Boots N07 which is cheaper.
It is the superbalanced. I feel the same, it does last well and applies really well, giving a good coverage without being too heavy, but the thrifter in me feels conned at the glass bottle (I love to cut open my tubes and get the dregs out lol). Funny, I did have the boots no7 but felt it was a little chalky. Currently have a maybelline one (had a boots gift voucher) and it's really chalky (but I'm persisting with it cause i'll be damned if I'm wasting it lol. So I think some boots vouchers for christmas and I'll head into the big boots in the city and get my clinique again.
Debt peak approx £30,000  now debt free!!! :j
My parents always said "If you can't afford it cash, you can't afford it!" so true!.... mind you, turns out we can't afford much lol :rotfl:

L'Oreal do an SPF 30 moisturiser which I quite like. It doesn't make my face too greasy but seems to be quite good at stopping me burning. It's also very regularly on offer.

Thanks. I tried the simple one but it was too thick. Olay's replacement product has a lower SPF. I will look at L'Oreal

I use Wella Professionals shampoo and treatment, I get it from my hairdressers, it does last ages. Which one do you use? I use the shampoo for sensitive scalp and treatment for coloured hair. Sometimes I find my hair getting greasy and I wonder if its this but I am reluctant to change brands and its really helped the condition of my hair over the years.

I can also get E45 on prescription but I do often buy it over the counter, it works out cheaper on prescription though as I get bigger bottles.

I don't think I'm extravagant by any means but I do like nice products. No disrespect to anyone but I'd find a £1.00 shampoo too watery and would do nothing for my hair. I like a balance really.

I use the brilliance shampoo and conditioner for fine to normal coloured hair (red bottle) I have fine hair with bleached highlights and it's perfect for my hair. The conditioner is quite light weight so could be one to try if you find your hair gets greasy? Sounds like you are using Systen Professional products though?

It is the Professionals range I use. They do have a shampoo in a purple bottle for sensitive scalps though my hairdresser says they are all OK for sensitive scalps.

I have fine highlighted hair also. I use the treatment as a conditioner at the ends of my hair mainly and as a treatment where I leave it on now and again.
