Old Style Daily Thursday 22nd February 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

  • Morning Holly
I hope things improve for you soon, my DD had a MH wobble earlier this week, her Dr overreacted but fortunately we were able to get things sorted for her. Usually the Dr ignores all pleas for help, there is no consistency with mental health care round here at all.
I will be thinking of you all day, please update us as and when you can.
    Hugs Hester

  • Hollyharvey, thank you for starting us off and please post as often as you need to. I am sending you lots of hugs and good wishes & hoping that your Dr. can fully support you. Please try to at least get a nap or two & please think of all the support we are sending you - just sorry it cannot be anything more practical.

    Good morning all.

Holly - good job you found the money as the final hand in day for them is next Thursday 01 March. Out of bad things something good comes. My fingers are crossed for you.

I’m lying in my cosy bed trying to draw out a few more moments before getting up. My car has to be in the garage by 9.30am and it’s about 70 country miles with at least three sets of roadworks to get through and areas of mangled carriageway to negotiate. If I leave too early it’ll still be too dark to see the huge potholes or deep ruts.

OK, I’m ready to get ready! I wish a happy Thursday to everyone with special thoughts to Holly.
  • Good morning Holly, hardly surprising that you had such a bad night. I'll be here on and off today, all I can do is to send you virtual support.

    Morning All

Hope things are sorted for you today Holly, it must have been such a long night for you.

Chilly but dry here, DD phoned me yesterday to say they were back and it was freezing! Welcome home!

Not much to report, my cowboy hat arrived yesterday - we are going to a sing a long Calamity Jane screening tomorrow so decided to get dressed up. Should be fun.

Hope you all have a happy Thursday, not long until the weekend. Take care. XX
  • Good morning, and thanks Holly.

Holly, I was shocked to read what is happening to you, it's terrible. You must feel so helpless and frightened. Update if you can, and remember that all your friends here are thinking of you.

After waking at 4.30, I've eventually got up, I'm only lying there worrying about things that will probably never happen, and things that have happened and I can't do anything about.

It was raining late last night, and is still wet out there now. The forecast looks pretty bleak for the coming week.

Today we are going to steam off wallpaper for DD, they are having some work done on the house. I don't mind jobs like that, and it helps her. Before we go there I want to nip out and get a birthday card airmailed to Oz for my eldest grandson, he'll be 12 in mid March..

Yesterday was ok, took Dgd for her swimming lesson after school, then dropped her home.
i did a bit more sewing, still on with these doll's clothes, they're coming between me and my wits. I'm making as much as I can, this doll is going to have more clothes than me,

Hugs to the poorly people, and Holly,I'll be thinking of you.

    Take care folks.
  • Good morning all

Just catching up on yesterdays thread.

Holly I hope your Dr can talk some sense to these ‘professionals’. It's terrible the way you are being treated. I can only send you hugs.
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. I shall be thinking of you today (as I was last night) and really hope today brings more positive news for you. It seems mental health care is seriously underfunded throughout the country. I know it is round here too.

The DGDs are still fast asleep but in half an hour I shall have to waken them ready to feed and water before the school run. They are not back tonight as DD has had her early shift tomorrow changed to a late shift. So they are to pick up from school instead!

Once safely deposited at school we have the trek to Leeds for Mr TA's oncology injection. He is still not right (but better than he was last week) so will mention it to the specialist nurse and see what he thinks, We will probably have lunch afterwards in the hospital restaurant as they do quite nice meals and it will save battling the crowds in Leeds centre looking for somewhere to eat.

DS got our guttering cleared yesterday so hopefully that will be the end of the waterfall when it rains again. He also brought the upright freezer and I swapped everything over from the chest freezer. It's so much easier than falling headlong into the chest freezer trying to get to the bottom of it! I still have a selection of foraged fruit so really must get round to doing something with it.

Just time for another quick coffee so ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them, especially HOLLY. Do keep us updated if you can as we are all worried about you. Take care all xx

    Morning all,

Holly i was awake till gone 1 and thought about starting the thread earlier but thought I might have been a tad presumptuous however I was thinking about you.

No consistency in treatment and continuation of care these days. Prodigal had a mental health meeting when he was admitted to hospital months back. Despite taking a paracetamol overdose but finding none in his system and giving answers to questions as a 10 year old boy would they released him with no follow up. No consistency. Thankfully he's been better of late but its took a meeting with the job centre to trigger these issues again.

Childcare ceased for this school holiday. It was lovely having him but he talked me to death and I'm going to sling youngest work bag round his head if he doesn't stop chucking it round the kitchen on a morning as its covered with brick and plaster dust. His work trousers are just as bad. Over and over we have the same conversation..

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off, thinking of you and hope the right decisions are made today x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 gone to work also, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he has college today.

Now getting light here, cold and frosty start to the day.

Dinner last night was chicken in country sauce with HM egg and veg fried rice, all eaten and enjoyed, was going to cook beef casserole for tonight but I didn't get the beef out to defrost so I need to think of something else. I'll sort that at some point today.

Work yesterday wasn't too bad as I only worked in the morning as I took the afternoon off to take DS2 to an appointment. Back to work on Monday.

    So on to today

I'll be heading into town first thing to visit the bank and building society then on to mum and dad's to sit with mum whilst dad goes out and they have an occupation therapist type lady coming today. I want to listen to what she has to talk about as we don't always get a correct version of events/meetings from mum and dad.

I'll then be try to get washing, drying and ironing done also need to do some housework. So plenty to be getting on with.

    Keep safe and well x
