Short term investment

Hi

I need somewhere to put approximately £30,000 which is for a house purchase deposit but where I can get instant access. I have looked at Martin's recommendations and wondered if NS&I would be the best. They offer 1% easy access and monthly interest. This will not be for a full year. Could anyone advise me on this please. Thanks Jackie

If you want to maximise interest you'll need to spread it around a few current accounts, see Top Savings Accounts and read some of the other posts on this board. For simplicity NS&I income bonds are fine or perhaps look at a Tesco Internet Saver also at 1%, both are variable. The Tesco account has the advantage that you can withdraw you money instantly with Faster Payments while NS&I will take a few days using BACS
  • Thanks ColdIron. I'll have a look at those.
