Say you're 30 and stripped off all your assets except for 200 k in your pocket. What would you do with it?
Would the first sensible thing be to buy a house outright?
Or would you use it for something else?

Stick it all on Red on the Roulette table.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.0 -
It's rather hypothetical isn't it? At 30 I had a 6 month old son and a wife to look after... so buying a home would have been a priority.
If someone gave me £200k now, it'd have to choose between paying off my mortgage (well, it wouldn't pay all of it), extending and renovating my house or buying a BTL investment.0 -
I'd stick 20K in the bank, 20K into a pension, open a S&S isa and then buy a house, the remainder being the deposit.0

I'm confused. Does the OP have 200k or 400k?0
