Soaking it in soda crystals is a more eco-friendly option than bleach, just as good and no nasty after-smell. You can add the soda crystals to your bath water (when you've got out of your bath!) and leave it overnight. I put mine in the washing machine with soda crystals instead of washing powder and vinegar instead of conditioner. Works a treat. Putting a towel is in a good idea - will do that next time.

I am giving that a go now. Thanks everyone on here. :)

Hi, just notice this morning that my shower curtain was getting all nasty at the bottom, so bunged it in washer with a squirt of stardrops (into the drum)and a good glug of vinegar in the washer drawer. It come out just now, cleaner but still got mildew on there - any suggestions on how to get it clean? Thanks in advance.

I just wash mine on a 60 wash with some washing powder and a squirt of bleach also but my shower curtain is white so don't know if this might damage other coloured shower curtains.

  • We soaked ours in the bath with washing powder and it was pretty effective - we were soaking the bath in washing powder anyway as we couldn't get it clean so we chucked the shower curtain in at the same time!

  • There's an older thread on just this subject. I'll merge them so that you can browse the other suggestions ;)
