Higher Education

Am I right in thinking that as soon as my ex registers for a PhD, he will no longer have to pay child maintenance? Even if registered as a part time student?

It depends which of the 3 schemes your case is administered under.

Edit: will teach me to skim read! If he is in full-time education, if will depend on which scheme you are on as to whether or not it makes a difference. If the course is part-time, it makes no difference to the outcome for any of them.

Between schemes currently as I had given up trying. So will be new scheme if I reopen
  • For the new scheme, his student status is irrelevant. It will all depend on his earnings.

Oh, interesting. He's self employed and last I tried got himself a nil assessment. Might try again, always worth a shot!
