pleasures for today
1. Phew its hot !!!! Not a pleasure for me as I was in work, but I was given a portable fan... so the breeze was lovely.
2. Collegues have been very supportive on DS sponsorship blackout and have raised £30 for the schools he is volunteering at in South Africa
3. Left work at 4.30pm and temp on car thermometer said 31 degrees - only went down to 27 degrees when driving. Called into @sda and got a few things. Picked up some ys onion bhaji down from £1.80 to £1.00 and curry bag for 2 reduced to £3.25 from £5. When checked my receipt after paying noticed they had gone through at full price so trekked off to customer services who gave me back the difference AND gave me a £2 gift card to spend next time to say sorry for the inconvenience. So for 2 chicken curries, rice, nans and onion bhajis £2.25 (if you count the £2 off next shop). Well pleased
4. Eating above mentioned nom nom. Onion bhajis are huge... size of potato hash browns but thicker... 8 in pack, so 2 each will do 2 meals
5. Got home at about 5.50pm and there was still a parking space outside my house !! Pleasure not having to park miles away and carry my shopping

2. My new shower and radiator for the bathroom arrived
3. Worked from home
4. A fabulous friend came over for lunch
5. I made butternut squash and feta quiche for it and it was nomnomnom, only 2 portions left now as I've been a pig.....
6. Rainbows tonight was good fun, lots of glitter everywhere!! Thank goodness we were outside so it was ever so slightly easier to tidy up...
7. Did a good turn to a friend by dropping her home afterwards, it was too hot for her to walk and carry a heavy bag
8. The sunshine, even though it has been a leetle bit too hot for me as my garden has no shade whatsoever. No, I'm not complaining, honest guv'nor! I'm nicely pink now, must dig out the suncream for tomorrow0 -
5 or so for today (Tuesday)
1) Up to the little hours having an online conversation with OH. :-)
2) Had a good sleep after that.
3) Boys in a good mood this morning.
4) Changed the bunkbeds and the sheets all dried outside quickly.
5) Got another load of washing done and house reasonably clean.
6) Got smaller son at lunchtime from school and he had been good and done a maths test.
7) Went to see my brother who is working on his barn conversion. Looked in the slow worm "traps" (just bits of corrugated tin sheet where they get warm underneath) and found 2 slow worms, 3 toads, a mouse and 2 pink, bald baby mice!
8) Texts from OH. :-)
9) Boys playing outside in the sunshine as I type so I'm going to have a speedy bath before watching Holby City.
10) Oh yes, had another man come round to quote for some new double glazing.0 -
Evenin' all. I am sat waiting for an email that someone wants me to check. Emails always take ages to come through.
Glad everyone is enjoying the weather.
Tealady - I bought my DD's prom dress last October as it was just THE dress. It was rather larger than a size 6 but since then she has lost a fair amount of weight so we are going to have to pay a fortune to get it altered. She is well chuffed though and as she has always been a bigger girl I am pleased that her shape is changing - for her sake. She is now very curvaceous and when the boys catch up I think she might be in demand! I don't know where she got those knockers from - but it ain't me :rotfl:
So today's
1. Conservatory man came and gave us a quote for the new roof. It proved that the firm we want to use aren't especially over charging us. It is stll a lot of money though, but has to be done.
2. Still enjoying my facebook reminiscences group.
3. House is clean and [STRIKE]tidy[/STRIKE] well, clean!
4. Did some gardening. My beans are in and my baby corn, toms and peppers are in their pots and I've started to dig out my raised bed.
5. Yummy tea of YS quiche, baked spud and salad. Nice for a summery day.
Enjoy your evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Loving the crossword banta. Here's one for your satnav sonny pigsty (5,3):rotfl: used to do the torygraph every day

1) the sun shone all day :T
2) got my marking pile down to 12 :j
3) had nice luchtime chat with mum back from her travels
4) scrummy sausage risotto. Finished off the risotto rice and the 4 smoked sausages that needed using by 23. 2 portions eaten, 2 portions in the freezer
5) lovely walk by the river with OH after supper
Now in bed having had snack of brocolli stalks. DS likes the florets. I think the stalks taste bit like asparagus (which i now call sparrow grass:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:MrsSD declutter medals 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐0 -
Hello!!
OT/DD - You should be able to get high welfare rose veal from Sainbugs, Waytrose, Em&Es... in fact most supermarkets now. Even Tesc0... though they have been importing very low welfare veal from Germany for the last while which is a complete disgace when there are perfectly good male calves being shot at birth here. I am lead to believe that they are now buying UK rose veal though.
VJ'smum - I shouldn't laugh at your daughter's chest size but your comment made me chuckle!:rotfl:
Chicken - of course you will be invited to my imaginery wedding... in fact I'll splash out and invite you all!!!:D
Frith - how many men are you having round to give you quotes on your windows???
Mishmogs - Welcome!!
I've had a lovely day today... all the men were out of the office at a golf which might have had something to do with it!!
1) Baby has arrived and she is an absolute poppet! My friend sent me a message to tell me but apparently Im the only person she has told (besides family) bcause she wants a day or two to just enjoy her little girl with her husband and other daughter. I promptly burst into tears because I was so touched! This prompted one of my colleagues to come round and give me a cuddle because apparently in the 4 and a half years I have worked with her she has never seen me emotional! :rotfl::o
2) Near disaster with the mortgage on the new property and I had to ask my parents to lend me some money because we couldn't find a provider who would grant a 90% LTV despite my good credit history (its a bit of a complex situation with my mortgages...) anyway Bank of Mum and Dad came through and they have agreed to lend me the money (at an appropriate interest rate!!!). It is going to save me buckets anyway because I now have a much better rate so I am a happy bunny.
3) Sunshine!!! Glorious Sunshine. I drove home with the top down on my car... I'll pretend I looked good but sadly I am rather geeky looking so probably didn't quite pull off the look I was going for :rotfl:
4) As I left work on time I was home in time to do 3 hours in the garden which was enough to make a massive difference and it is looking really nice now and my little robin friend came to help me. I also mowed the neighbours grass.
5) Managed to stretch one meal's worth of bolognaise to two.... now that I am bout to be mortgaged to the hilt I have to enjoy every meal that is not bread and water!
Night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Thanks ladyhawk i never touched veal till i saw a programme on rose veal.MrsSD declutter medals 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐0

1. Went to the gym to collect our keys, on which all info is kept. Clever stuff. DD has found the machine she says she want a go on every time we go, although it's the only one she'd have to pay for. Only 50p a time though, and you get a prize every time - all chocolate covered . It's my induction day on Thursday . Haven't been induced since DS was born 30 years ago but my personal trainer (I rather like saying that, it sounds terribly posh) assures my it's quite painless
2. The flapjacks were all very well received, gave some to DNeighbour who later asked for the recipe, and she and her DD sat in the sun eating them after dinner. Thumbs up from them and DGD.
3. We went for coffee and a couple at the next table reminded me of Mr and Mrs S's breakfast conversation. Her ' what food do they eat in Tenerife?' Him 'Egyptian of course' !! Pleased it was the M who said it
4. A couple of weeks ago I cut down the daffodils around the shrubs in tubs at the front of the house. A couple of days ago one started to grow and now I have one dainty little daffy in full bloom
5. Spent an hour pottering outside late afternoon, everything is coming on including the apple tree, plum tree and all the berry bushes.
Skint - here's the recipe for microwave banana flapjacks, which was so quick and easy I couldn't believe it...
75g (3 oz) butter
5 tablespoons light brown soft sugar
2 tablespoons golden syrup
200g (7 oz) porridge oats
Large very ripe banana, mashed
Place the butter, sugar and syrup in a microwave safe bowl and cook on high power for 1 to 2 minutes, or until butter is melted.
Stir in the oats, mashed banana and mix thoroughly.
Press mixture into a small greased baking dish. Cook on high power for about 5 minutes or until the centre is bubbling.
Allow to cool before cut into squares. I used a round earthenware dish so cut into slices like a cake.
If you want a stronger banana flavour add another mashed banana and 1 - 2oz more of oats
sleep tight0 -
sparrer - that recipe makes me want to get my kitchen done so I can get my microwave out of its box in the garage!!
ladyhawk - hoorah for parents, I'm only in my dream house because of mine too, love 'em to bits
welcome mishmogs, nice to meet you Hope you'll keep posting0 -
I don't know where she got those knockers from - but it ain't me :rotfl::AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0
