Starting over... 15th Oct 17 at 10:13 PM
    Hi all!

It's been a while since I've used this website and forum, largely because I've been living abroad for a few years and BOY have I missed it! For the record, there's nothing remotely like MSE in Ireland and if I was much cleverer I would have loved to have started something similar.

The reason I'm rejoining the MSE clan is because in 12 weeks time (82 days to be exact) I'm moving back to Devon And while I'm really excited, I'm also extremely nervous to be starting over. I run a successful business here in Ireland that I'm hoping to bring over (but realistically it'll take at least 12 months to get to the same level - I'm a wedding singer if anyone needs one ), and the thought of being a 30-something who is going back to live with her mother is nauseating...

Financially I have no savings and £1700 on a credit card - I've put all my money into my business, so the plan is to save as much money as I possibly can before I move. I have a lot of work coming up but my day job is also self-employed so budgeting can be difficult while I wait for invoices to be paid.

I work mostly in the afternoons and evenings so I'm on the hunt for a temp morning or night time job for the next few months, but I'm also looking online for ways to earn a bit extra. I still have my UK bank account so I'm looking at doing the gambling websites using Top Cashback (I hate gambling so stopping after the minimum bet to get the cash back won't be an issue), and I write a bit in my spare time so I might try some of the task-based websites too.

Well, I think that's it for now. Wish me luck!

Fingers crossed that your room mates move doesn't happen until after you have left then! Its a shame they can't hang on until just after Christmas, I don't think I would want to be moving at this time of year.

I hope you're not too stressed out with everything going on, the bookings you can sort out, its done now and we can't travel back in time so we just have to deal with these things as best we can.

DFD you're such a good voice of reason! Both clients were really nice about my mistakes and rebooked on different dates, they both just said "these things happen", which for the record is exactly what I'd say to anyone bar myself and good news is my flatmates have decided that they're not in any rush to move, fingers crossed it stays that way!

I had a lovely time with my mate last night, the weather came in hard and his mum insisted I stay the night (he's another one starting again and living with his mum, it seems to be the trendy thing atm) so the vino came out. I might not get chance to see him or his mum again before I leave so the goodbyes have started...

Although yesterday was great, the to do list wasn't very successful haha:

    - reschedule / cancel my dumb dumb double bookings (still annoyed with myself) Done and everyone was lovely about it
    - connect with members of Musical Society Ongoing
    - update CV Nope
    - Sort lyrics and tracks for carolling Ongoing
    - Refasten hook and eye on dress Done
    - Rejig finances Nope
    - Start on PDF version of flyer Nope
    - Blitz room Done
    - PAD Done
    - Gig Done
    - Fill up car Got this done today

Today's list is just to finish yesterday's off, plus

    - PAD
    - shopping
    - watch Ireland V South Africa

Just done some quick sums and rejigged everything to include my extra management wages. The emails I've sent about the wedding fair refunds have been ignored so I'll try calling next week. Assuming I get this, stick to my budgets, and the exchange rate stays the same, I should pay off my debt and save £3000 to get started in Devon. The budget includes a bit of slack for fun and presents so there's no reason I can't do this... I just need to stay disciplined!

Thanks MeenaM and DFD - still very nervous and excited for the move! The savings will be desperately needed by the looks of it - looking at the jobs around there's very little in my area of expertise, which in a way is helpful because it means I have to go 100% into making the business full time asap.

My to-do list just isn't getting dented atm but I'm trying to be kind to myself - there's actually nothing that needs to be done immediately. Two gigs today and five hours of driving means my to do list is called "If it" - if it gets done, great! Should at least be a NSD today!

    - connect with members of Musical Society Ongoing
    - update CV
    - Sort lyrics and tracks for carolling Ongoing
    - Start on PDF version of flyer
    - PAD Done
    - Gig
    - Make packed lunch

    - UPDATE BLOODY CV!
    - Sort out times and flight details for Saturday
    - Batch cook stew

Heading to the UK on Saturday, and from the moment I land until Tuesday it's fun central - which means I HAVE to work my a$$ off until then. Gig-wise it's a little quieter ('Only' five gigs haha) so I need to focus and get all this done.

I tried to get through the whole day but ended up crashing 8-11am. Today was mostly successful though, I love the designer I picked for the logo, now I have to let him work his magic - I'm so excited! Also picked up a lovely tablecloth that I can use for wedding fairs, I've been looking for one for absolutely ages and Primark had a gorgeous one for €12 I might also have bought some pretty underwear and a silly little present for my grandma. The stew is cooling on the stove and my last load of laundry is on its last spin.

    Motivation is back!

    Morning world!

My logo arrived yesterday! After a couple of revisions I'm so happy with it! And every little thing that happens now is a step closer to coming home and my excitement (and stress levels ha) are creeping up.

Laptop is out of action until my new charger arrives - luckily because I'm heading to the UK IN TWO DAYS (so excited!) I could order one and have it sent to my 'friend's' office (oh yes, I have a 'friend' now hehe!) and everything tends to be quite a bit cheaper back home. The charger is a great example - the cheapest I could find over here is €37.99 (bout £34) without delivery; cheapest in the UK is £14.48 including delivery

I've decided to leave the wing mirror until the car is in the UK - again, it's half the price to order back home so plan is to order it next month. It needs to be fixed before the MOT but I have 30 days to get the MOT certificate from 5th January so that should be fine, especially as my brother's best mate and flatmate is a mechanic What is not fine is I forgot my tax is due at the end of the month and I haven't budgeted for it, that'll be €115 coming out of my 'misc/fun' budget...

I had my December work all sorted... and then two clients changed times for gigs One person I need to speak to isn't in today so I won't get this sorted today. Also, people keep asking me if I'm having leaving drinks so I might have to organise a little get together. None of my friends are in the same circles at all so it'd be a really interesting night!

    Aims for today:

    - PAD
    - NSD
    - chase up wedding fair refund (it's been three months since she confirmed she'd pay me back... I think she might be hoping I'll just go away?)
    - Record harmony guide tracks for society carolling
    - Sort set lists for tomorrow
    - Clean bathroom
    - gig

It's not quite so crazy today

If I had been waiting 3 months for a refund I would be chasing them every day until they got sick of me and got it processed! 3 months is a ridiculous amount of time to wait for your money back.

Glad you like the logo! Its important to love something like that because its what everyone will see first.
