    Remember you're STILL a Womble - 2017 challenge 24th Dec 16 at 3:49 PM
    Dear All

Finally have time to update what this challenge is about. Firstly what is wombling?

Wombling is at its most basic level finding things. That you can use and someone else decided they couldn't. When I started this challenge in January of 2015, I used to Womble a lot of brand match coupons, these were just like finding money and I have no idea why people ever threw them away.
My initial idea was to try and find one thing each time I left the house that would make my life cheaper in some way. Roadkill (change found on the road, bus, self service till draw) is a great one for that. I find that I can usually find at least 1p per journey and although some people would say what's the point? Because I trained myself to look for coins as second nature I have found a lot of money over the years £ 84.20 in 2015, & £62.28 last year.
I often find useful big items left in the street outside people's houses with notes saying 'take me away' last year I even found a Hoover. I needed a new one so took it. This saves me quite a lot of money. My own wombling style is finder, but a lot of people Womble a lot of money by doing BOGOFFs. Or eBay buying.

YS shopping is worth a mention. If you are able to buy food with a huge mark down then that's a Womble.

Basically if you are able to make a saving in any way, including comping then that's a Womble. I don't have any strict rules for this challenge and quite often we just chat! So come on in and join the free fun.

    Bob

I went to the local curry house this weekend and the assistant manager gave me 20% off!! I was an all you can eat buffet and I was asking about the charge for my DD. Anyhow that saved me £10.
Used costa points today about £2.50
I keep finding pennies everywhere, 5pence so far and I also found a 20pence piece.

Shame about Bob SB, is he/she okay?

We got an email from our employer that we will be given a 1.1% payrise from 1 October. I didn't even know there were negotiations! It's nationwide for people in the same type of employment. €75 net for this year.

Just caught up with everyone's posts since my last visit - there's been some serious wombling going on while I've been gone. Well done guys.

Me and DOH got free tickets to see 80s singer Marc Almond in concert on Friday night which was an excellent night out. I'm thinking a nominal womble of £44 for these.

Saved £130 shopping around for home insurance instead of just renewing so I was extremely happy with that.

Wombled x2 DVDs from the staff room today "free to a good home" so £2 there.
My lovely niece bought a box of biscuits, a pack of freedos and a Toblerone around on Sunday to say thank you for inviting her for Sunday lunch.

Saved £31 on a 45% discount code on some shopping so was extremely pleased with that.

Sold DD2's Sylvanian families and other random Doll's house bits for £128 - she's made up. I won't include it in my wombles as it's her money but I was so pleased to free up the space in the loft more than anything.

All in all a good few weeks. I'm so busy at work but trying to keep on top of the wombles as I just love it. I get a real buzz everytime. How about everyone else? xxx

It's nice to keep track, isn't it? When I was a poor student, I kept all the money I found on the street in a piggy bank, and once every 2 years it would be enough for a theatre ticket. I really enjoyed that free night out.

Wombled £62 at Sainsbury's. Had £10 to double up to £20, then spent that £20 plus £2 cash on clothes in the sale that had a pre-sale value of £64.

Have also changed energy supplier but need to work out that womble total first.

Our Purchasing Department had put a (moving) box of goodies at Reception, the first of the Halloween/Christmas hampers they receive. These goodies were a bit weird, though: pineapple-curry-mango-peanut-almond bar (no chocolate), anyone? I have about €5 worth of goodies.
