I've been searching the net and everytime I think I've found a decent food I find somewhere elsewhere that basically just rubbishs it! Arrg!
Currently my two are on Iams (dry)and it's ok. But just not sure what to do for the best, both dry and wet are evil foods if you search the net long enough so that doesn't help!
I can't afford the top brands such as james wellbeloved ect but don't want to give them cheap brands as they only have something like 3% meat whereas iams has 40% and others up to 80% (although encore which has this, is complimentry not complete, confused!
I was hoping to give them dry most of the time with an occasional pouch as they prefer dry, any ideas?
I currently get iams for £7 for 3kg so something around this kind of price would be great
Any ideas or somewhere I can go to to find out more about good cat foods?
Thanks, chocdonuty

I'd have a look on Zooplus, but I'm doubtful you'll get what your looking for at that price.
As your mainly feeding dry, you could get away with a wet food which is complimentary , I use Porta 21 wet food from Zooplus, which is a reasonable price and is just chunks of meat and jelly.
Personally, I wouldn't use Iams as they have a bad track record for animal experiments .0 -
I've switched my two kittens onto Animonda Carny from zooplus.com - one 200g can will last a couple of days and you get six cans for £4.50ish. This works out as 12 days, which is the same cost as something like Felix or Whiskas for 12 pouches. They're seven months old now, so their portions aren't likely to increase any more.
My kittens really like Carny, they're keen to eat it when I dish it up and happily go back to it throughout the day. Big difference from their Whiskas, which 50% of it was being left, no matter what flavour I tried. They would just lick off the gravy and leave the meat.
Carny is a complete food, and only contains meat, no grains. All flavours are basically 68% actual meat, 31% broth and 1% minerals. I also give them a little bit of Royal Canin Maine Coon and Applaws 80% meat mixed together for variety. I buy two 400g bags for £4ish each and this lasts me the month. The higher meat content in both these foods mean less it getting used because they're getting all their nutrients from the smaller portions. And my two used to prefer their dry food over the wet, but now it's the other way around.
I can't speak for any other brands unfortunately, as they've only ever had Whiskas and Animonda, but I highly recommend the Animonda as it's been a great success!
NB: This totally sounds like a sales pitch, but I'm just really pleased with the results - the kittens poo doesn't smell any more and they're looking/acting really healthy!0 -
I feed mine this.

Bag lasts an age and its grain free.
For wet food I have a local home bargains and b&m. They usually have hilife and feline fayre pouches for around 20p.Sigless0 -
I've been getting Hilife pouches from Poundland, they are packs of 4 for a pound. She loves it so much she won't eat anything else now, so God knows what will happen if they stop selling it.0

I use this too. For wet food I use Butcher's Classic which is about £2.70 for 6 tins in most supermarkets.0 -
I got 6 cats and they all love Butchers Classic as above - at £2.70 for a 6 pack and available in all supermarkets in either "meat" or "firsh" variety
