Bankruptcy and my credit score

hi all, im new to the forum to see if anyone knows what i can do about a problem i have and not sure what to do.

i went bankrupt just a little under 3 and a half years ago (got made redundant and had quite a few outgoing's)
i always keep a check on my credit report ''just incase'' plus it would be nice to see it go up some day, ive got a really low score of 264 and as you know it couldnt get much worse, but im trying to get it back to a decent level as one day im going to want to do the usual things like get a house etc..
i pay my mobile phone bill every month without a problem and im in no trouble with my bank and any other payments that need to be paid are paid, so im thinking this is good and my score should be creeping up slowly... it seems im wrong
I have still got stuff on my credit report saying i have defaulted payments (these were included in my bankruptcy) am i right in the knowledge that these should not be on my file? as i think these are what is holding my credit down so to speak.
I think its basically telling my report these are current problems and not past problems and i thought they would of been wiped off.

I have emailed equifax who i have the credit report with and i have heard nothing back from them so now im here :)

Can i get these defaults removed?
If so, how?

Any help would be great as im pulling my hair out trying to do good and nothing seems to be changing

thanks

dave

The defaults should still be on your file, but the dates should be on or before your BR date. All the information on how to deal with this if the dates are more recent is on the how to clean up your credit files sticky at the top of the forum.

Whilst BR is still on your file, your credit score means nothing:)

and when your bankruptcy drops off it's still meaningless...

half the time it seems like a number someone plucks from fresh air...most lenders these days will do an ID check and conduct their own credit scoring system in house anyhoo

Yes, that credit score doesn't mean a thing.

Defaults stay until 6 years after they were made. Mine are due to drop off this month. My bankruptcy is still on file but have a credit score in its 800's. I will be celebrating in 4 weeks time when everything is off. I have about £8000 credit available to me now but still failed a credit check with an insurance company last month. First time that has happened since being bankrupt.
