Dear all
I posted this in a different forum not realising this one was here, and left out important info.
I am going to Australia for up to 12 months, with a stopover of just over 48 hours in Singapore so know I need to purchase worldwide cover, as v few companies will allow stopovers to be included.
I've been getting a headache trying to wade through the companies....they are either very cheap, or around £450 which I think is reasonable for length of travel.I am happy to pay as much as required to ensure I have good cover, but reviews seem so mixed for the major companies.!Does anyone have any good advice please? Companies I have looked at include Trailfinders and STA. I will be doing some temping work too and someone mentioned making sure search and rescue was included?
Secondly, my mum has just finished chemo and is about to have radio. She will be in remission but will still be taking meds at the time I go. By the looks of some policies this will not be covered despite my mum being in recovery. My dad has also been diagnosed with diabetes and is on meds (neither will be travelling with me). Any advice on good insurers who will coverr this?.
Thanks for sticking with me if you read all this!

Too late now maybe but it might have worked out cheaper to get a more flexible ticket to cover some eventualities rather than insure them.
Then you could come back if you had to on your existing ticket paying just a smallish change fee.0 -
Be aware most policies will cease the moment you set back in the UK, so if you pop home for a family emergency you would need to buy new cover if you went back out.
Some allow a return to UK for a family emergency.
So if this could affect you, buy a suitable policy0 -
Is your return ticket not flexible? Didn't think anyone bought 12 month tickets with fixed dates!
If it is flexible then not sure why you're worried about cover for having to return home early due to your parents' health problems, you just change the flight dates (unless of course you want to pop back home and then return - but not sure any insurance would cover that anyway).
Trailfinders & STA are specialists for this type of trip so I'd imagine their insurance policies would be suitable, they usually have various options for risky activities such as bungee jumping, skiing etc.0
