Parking Eye advice please

Yesterday at work we received a notice from Parking Eye to pay a penalty of £100, but if paid within 28 days it would be £60.
This was for one of our Engineers vans parked in the car park of the hotel (Marriott) that he was working at. We are under contract to this hotel to carry out repairs, servicing and maintenance to their air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. We are there quite a bit.
The van carries all the equipment that our engineer requires to be able to go about his business - the van has all our details on the outside saying who we are and what we do. The engineers also have A4 size "posters" to put in the window saying Engineer on Call out or Engineer at Work - however I cannot say for sure that this was showing on the day the incident took place.
The van was there from 9am to 4pm - the hours within the engineer was working for the hotel in question.
My boss was impressed when I told her not to pay and showed her lots of details why not to. I have spoken with Bondylad via another website and he advised me to post on here and that stroma and coupon -mad were very good and would be along to help me out.
As the document only arrived into the office yesterday, we have not done anything with it. I thought I would ask on here what our next step would be - other than to ignore it and wait for the demands to arrive.
Thanks for all help.

Tell (don't ask) the hotel to (a) get it cancelled immediately and (b) to ensure their idiot contactor doesn't ticket your company vehicles again.0

Alternatively, tell the hotel that your charges for the job are exclusive of expenses/costs and ifthe charge is not cancelled, it will be added to your bill with an admin fee.0 -
Right this is now my new standard reply about Parking Eye as I am struggling to type the same thing again and again, answering new threads every day saying the same thing as the last thread.
Here's the forum, and top right above the threads there's a 'search this forum' button:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163
Put these words in 'Parking Eye appeal'.
Click to change the search to 'show posts' (NOT left at the default search 'show threads').
Read - and then challenge the fake PCN without naming the driver. Let us know the reply.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi C-M
Good luck with that...but unless you actually spoon feed some people they will simply ask the question again...and again...and again....0 -
i am very dissappointed and embarrased by responses to op,,i asked her to post on here because her situation for me was different especially as the van was not parked, but actually,,working there,,she has contacted me via another forum and is not happy either,i enjoy this forum greatly, but my knowledge is limited and if i can help someone not get scammed it gives me a real buzz, thats why i asked her to come here to get help,,,what a laugh eh,so looks like i will now go myself as a result of this,i have enjoyed my time here, kep up the good work,,bye,, bondy lad.0

Well I ain't seen this thread. But like others from parking eye it's probably best to appeal as they could try a small claim. Obviously they have the right to park there, I would first go to the hotel and demand that they get this cancelled immediately.
If they do it its the end of the matter. But if they don't I would challenge it like this to take it away from the company, only the driver can handle this. Once they are writing to you, come back here for help with an independent popla appeal and the wording for it
Name
Address
Date
Dear Scammers,
In regards to the invoice received with ref number xxxxxx dated xxxxxx, I deny all liability to your company, if you reject this appeal I require within 35 days a popla verification code for me to appeal independently, per Version 2 of the BPA Code of Practice.
I have nothing further to add, and will not respond to any correspondence from your company unless it contains the popla code. If you wish to find out why I reject all liability, pay the £27 plus vat to popla to find out
The appeal will be deemed accepted if there is no popla code on any rejection that you supply within the timeframe stipulated above.
Yours Faithfully

The search I suggested (with exact keywords suggested too) does actually give people lots of relevant and recent results, full of informative advice for their query. If I could have given a link to search results I would but MSE's system doesn't let such searches show for very long, just days, which wouldn't help.
Most newbies do not know how to search & find similar cases so explaining how is the best advice for starters, IMHO. They could find loads of cases like their own and will find that all the results explain how to challenge a fake PCN and about POPLA. Then they can come back fully informed, with any questions.
Much better than relying upon individual hit-&-miss repetition, often better on some threads than others, depending on how much time we all have. I for one cannot keep typing the same info out again...and again...and again when I know it's available with one search - and it's only at POPLA stage that people need real help.PRIVATE 'PCN'? The car park will be owned by the hotel who have presumably employed PE to "manage' the parking. They should have some sort of mechanism in place to ensure that parking tickets aren't given to all the hotel guests let alone tradesmen, delivery vans and all their other visitors. The hotel should sort this out without any need to contact PE. Has the hotel been phoned?0

Nothing further has been done as we only received the parking notice on Friday, addressed to the company. As I knew a little about parking scams I advised my boss to ignore it for now and then when I got home I did more research: ie contacted Bondylad. I posted on here as suggested as he felt being a works vehicle that it might be of interest to others and the responses might be different. Maybe there could be (or maybe there is) a Sticky with a 1-10 guide on how to go about tackling these scumbags.
I am not adverse to searching threads and looking, but felt the response from C-M was rather ineffectual - doing as they suggested just gives you loads of posts all asking for help as far as I could see. Nowhere could I find a definitive response - first you raise and appeal and how you go about it. It is a minefield out there and I thought I would get some help.
In the meantime when we are back in the office I will contact the hotel direct and ask them to cancel the parking fee. If that does not happen, then we might charge the hotel the cost and see how quick they sort it out.
Thank you to those who have posted helpful comments.0
